Hyatt Place Scottsdale/Old Town

Great Location but Noisy

The location is great, love the design and the rooms. The only problem is that its located by night clubs and we had a lot of noise from drunken people playing their car stereos and limos parking in the back of the hotel. The other problem was that we got a room but it was not clean. We got a new room but we had to wait. It’s those small things that hotels have to keep checking.

Billing Error

Besides being triple charged on checkout this was a great place to stay, rooms are nice, beds comfortable and the hotel very clean. Staff while we were there was friendly. Nice walk to old town and the shopping there even in late June with the temps over 100.

Adequate

This hotel is a bit stark. No phone directory in room, no printed list of amenities. Great TV, but a limited number of chanels. Definitely not kid friendly. Nice breakfast.

Nicely located; young, accommodating staff

I was impressed with the friendly, helpful attitude of the staff. Most were young people who were generous with their time--giving directions, keeping the breakfast bar fully stocked, offering tips on sight-seeing. We enjoyed seeing Taliesin West and seeing a good musical in Phoenix. Would have been adrift without a car however.

Lots of good, reasonable places to eat a short drive from the hotel as well as a short walk.

Nice But Not Helpful

I have gone To Phoenix several times where my wife shows up early and checks in ahead of me... never been a problem until we booked here. Even though it was paid by Expedia, and I was flying in that evening, they would NOT let my wife check in early. She was upset and had to wait about five hours and I am still hearing about it. Otherwise, the room was nice. However, you cant open windows to get fresh air and we never could get the thermostat set comfortably. The pool is nice, but no Jacuzzi.

By far the best positive surprise was the Saddle Ranch Chop House in walking distance. Great food, lots of atmosphere.. and we were comped alot of drinks. I understand that is not uncommon. Cute bar that surprised us was Gilligans... that had a nice young crowd in that was getting ready to go to a Spring baseball game. Lots of fun in the middle of the day.

Football Trip

The Hotel was Clean and well appointed. My other friends on the trip not staying here. Were very impressed with the decor. Loved the room and the Big screen TV.

Very Convenient

We were very impressed with the quality of the hotel. For a small hotel, it had all the accommodations a big hotel usually offers. Great comfortable beds, big screen tv, perfect location and very friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again.

Great Value

This hotel is a great value for the price. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Decor is very modern. The 42" flat screen TV was a real plus. The continental breakfast was great, as was the reasonably priced hot breakfast that we ordered.

Excellent business hotel

These rooms have everything you need. Large Flat Panel TV. Wireless, ethernet and other functions within easy reach of desk. Can even use TV for presentation review, etc.

No airport shuttle

This was our second stay at Hyatt Place in Scottsdale. The first time the hotel fit our criteria. It catered to business travelers, was within a few miles of the Phoenix Skyharbor Airport and offered a free airport shuttle. This time, however, the shuttle had been booked for an outside client. The desk manager--a nice guy--offered to find us a limo or taxi for the trip to the airport the next morning. But it would have cost us the full fare. There were no vouchers/discounts offered to compensate for the lack of the shuttle. We stay at certain hotels because they deliver what they promise. In this case the Hyatt Place didn’t.

No airport shuttle as promised

This was our second stay at the Hyatt Place in Scottsdale. On the surface it fits our criteria--caters to business travelers, is close enough to the Phoenix Skyharbor Airport, and offers free, reliable airport shuttle service. Upon checking in this last time, we discovered that the airport shuttle would not be available and my boyfriend had an early morning flight to catch. Apparently the Hyatt’s shuttle had been booked all day for an outside event. The desk manager (a nice guy) offered to find us a taxi or limo but we would have to pay. It would have cost approximately $30 to get to the airport. That’s $30 more than the no-cost shuttle. Anyway, I dropped my boyfriend off the next morning but vowed that this would be the last time we stayed at Hyatt Place. No promised airport shuttle = no more of our business.

About 3 blocks away is Cien Agave which has awesome (not cheap) tacos and the green chili salsa is incredible. Also a vast array of tequilas for one of the best margaritas in Phoenix area.

Bases on some negative reviews of this hotel, I was a little nervous after I booked it. Check in was a breeze, even got a little tour! Staff very friendly. Room was big, best TV Ive ever had in a hotel. Location is perfect for old town. No complaints.

Great place!

Nice, clean place. The room was the cleanest I’ve stayed in. Loved it! The only thing I didn’t like was that there was no privacy for the bathroom sink and vanity.

If you can live with the air conditioner by your bed, then go for it!!

Okay, heres the deal. The place was very updated and in a GREAT part of town. We stayed on the 4th floor for two nights. You couldn’t ever hear your neighbors. HOWEVER, the air conditioner is one of those big boxes that goes underneath the window right on one side of the bed. So, Im not kidding I had about 10" of space to get to my bed. Not to mention that the AC fan runs ALL THE TIME. I told the staff about it when I checked out and they said "Yeah, I think we are going to be just dumping all of them because we get alot of complaints about them." Only then will we go back and stay. Otherwise, it was a wonderful hotel and the staff was very friendly. OOO, and the continental breakfast is your cereal, bagels, fresh fruit. The egg part you have to pay for. And, they do have a very small scale Starbucks down in lobby to buy lattes and such. So, if you like a quiet when you sleep, then dont stay here. If you can sleep with all kinds of noise, then this probably wont bother you. Have fun!!!

If the weather permits, you can walk to ALOT of nice places to eat. Im not talking about McDonalds and such. Nicer resturants. So, food and looking for it is NOT a problem.

Can’t wait to go back

The Hotel was very nice, looks just like pictures on site. Check in and out was quick. The continential breakfast was great and included Starbucks Coffee! Employees were very attentive. The pool is heated, but a bit small and no hot tub. Restaurants and malls were near by.

Great concept

Enjoyed this hotel. Very well laid-out room with everything you need, and nothing that you don’t need all in a great location walking distance to dining and shopping, all at a reasonable price.
