Charming Little Victorian
We stayed here after our friends’ wedding and the people I interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very cute and old fashioned and we loved the claw foot tub! The whole place had a really nice warm and charming feeling and the room was nice and quiet. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a fun early 1900s San Francisco experience!

Nice place with old-fashioned charm.
The hotel was nice, quiet and clean. I was most excited to have a room with a clawfoot tub, the drain plug was broken and I couldn’t use the tub. They said they would fix it and removed the snack bar items that we ate from my bill as a gesture of their apology. The valet parking was very nice and convenient. The valet called in sick one day and the front desk man had to do double duty and was very apologetic but kept up with the pace.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
This hotel is close to the Fillmore and it is a great place to see concerts. We stayed at the Majestic to be close to the Fillmore and it was a great plan.

Good value for the location
Two blocks west of Van Ness on Sutter is a great location for staying in the city. Bus line at the front door for quick trip to Union Square. Four blocks from end of California Street cable car. Funky old hotel that appears to have been there continuously for 90 years. Rooms on Sutter Street side are sunny but noisy until after midnight. Rooms in back are dark and noisy from the restaurant fan. No air conditioning. Rooms were clean and decorated with antiques, but carpet was soiled and needed to be replaced. Bar was great and restaurant good for breakfast. Would stay there again.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Parking in neighborhood is free and available from 4PM on Friday till 10AM on Monday. Don’t pay for the valid parking. Japantown is two blocks and Filmore district is about 10 blocks. Good dining options for less cost are available in these areas.
