Very good hotel experience

The Rivoli Ramblas is a great hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was acutally larger than I expected based on my impression of European hotels. The hotel is conveniently located 1 1/2 blocks from the airport bus stop. The only negative about the room is that we were in Barcelona in late October. The weather was unusually warm and the air conditioning in the hotel was turned off making it necessary to sleep with the window open. Our room faced Las Ramblas. The noise from the street made it very difficult to sleep at night.

Take advantage of the Barcelona City Tour busses. You can purchase a multiple day pass and you can get off and back on the bus without additional charge. You can see many of the city cites easily.

Worth a return visit, for sure

Location! Location! Location! Stayed here in 2004, returned in 2009. Located right on la Rambla where all the action is. Staff is very accommodating. Front room is great public viewing, but sometimes has a lot of street noise. Back rooms are whisper quiet. Love this place!

See Underground Barcelona in the Bari Gotic. Get a two-days pass that lets you ride all 3 bus tour bus lines -- ride them all.

Adequate but not luxurious

Room was a little small, but everything was adequate once you get used to the fact that European standards are smaller and more basic than American. Conveniently located on the Ramblas. Full breakfast was included in the price which was quite a savings and there was a delightful deck on which to eat it(as well as indoor seating).

Great location

Rivoli Ramblas is in a great and safe location for exploring Barcelona. We arrived late on a Saturday night and walked right out the hotel to the great night life and crowds of Barcelona. On our next visit to Barcelona, we would stay at the Rivoli Ramblas again.

Perfect spot on La Ramblas

We stayed at this hotel one night before flying out of Barcelona. It was the perfect spot for a quick visit. There was great access to shops and dining and a lot of great sites to see within walking distance which was key since we were traveling with a 3 month old. The hotel was extremely accomodating with the child. We had a beautiful triple room suite with a gorgeous bathroom including jetted tub. The room was a little noisy but the balcony view of La Ramblas was worth it. By the end of the night we were all so tired that the noise outside didn’t bother us at all! I would definitely recommend this hotel, it’s a very good deal for the price.

Perfect Location

Rivoli Ramblas is in perfect location for all the major sites in Barcelona, they serve a very good breakfast, the only thing that did not impress me was the decoration of the room as it appeared very simple and dull for a four star hotel. The people at the hotel were very friendly and they have WI-Fi free of charge.Make sure to stay at the back of the hotel to avoid street noise

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Opera Flamingo is just across the street, would highly recommend it for someone who has seen the classic Flamingo.Make sure you don’t carry all your money at the La Ramblas as there are a lot of street pick pockers esp during night

Rivoli Hotel

We only stayed one night - a friday night. The location was handy, but no one warned us that La Ramblas was the equivalent of Times Square in NYC! In other words - noisy all night! Noisy people, taxis, cars and then early morning trash trucks. So although the hotel was decent, one couldn’t sleep much. Maybe we just picked a bad time, as the Tour de France rolled through town that day. Better luck to you all.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Be careful - Barcelona is full of street theives! Watch your purse and baggage. Take a trip outside the city to see Monserrat Monestery - it’s well worth the drive!

Very Nice Hotel, But Watch Out in Barcelona!

We spent one night at the Rivoli Ramblas. The room was clean and comfortable and in a great location for sight seeing. The hotel is on a beautiful tree lined square/street with many shops, places to eat and things to see. I would recommend the hotel to others. My only disappointment in Barcelona is the amount of theft type crime. We met 3 couples who had their bags (including passports) stolen in a two day period. Watch out for people who throw something that stinks on you and then someone else offers you a towel to wipe off. While you are distracted, you loose your bags. It is a beautiful city, but the crime spoiled it for us. Make sure you do not put your wallet in a pocket. Get a pouch to strap valuables under your clothing.

Nice Hotel

The hotel was nice and clean, staff helpful.Upon check-in the desk clerk put us in a room at the rear of the hotel away from the noise that one would normally hear coming from the Ramblas. The room was very European, clean and quite quaint. The full breakfast buffet at the hotel was okay nothing to brag about but it did for the time. The hotel is perfect right in the heart of the Ramblas and close to many attractions. You can also exchange money at the lobby as well if needed, and if you need to purchase tickets for the hop-on hop-off bus you can get them in the lobby at a discount. The patio roof in the hotel is breath taking especially the view from up there, there are small tables with chairs where one can relax. I had no problem walking in the Ramblas, honestly I was a bit skeptical as I had heard and read many negative things about this area, I had no problems you just have to be cautious and alert at all times. Close by to the hotel there are many restaurants to eat, some are expensive and others less expensive, if you’re into more American foods you have the typical McDonald’s, Kentucky, Burgerking, and Dunkin Donuts at walking distance to the hotel. Don’t miss going into "la Boqueria", there are places to eat there as well if not just go have a nice glass of sangria. We did a lot of walking especially that we were unable to check-in at the hotel after a certain time, so our tour of Barcelona began.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There are many attractions close by you can either take a tour bus but if you’re not one to stand on lines then pick up a map and walk. Take the metro you won’t get lost, the 2 Metro takes you to the Sagrada Familia, walk to Placa de Catalunya nice stores here, walk the Born area nice inexpensive restaurants, check out Port of Vell beautiful if its a nice day visit the local flea market here, you can purchase some of the locals crafts. The Ramblas and surrounding areas experience is a must.

Excellent location and view from balcony

Excellent location and view of the street and square They were very friendly and helpful at desk. We got to the hotel early and had not slept and they were able to get us a room.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Be aware the area can be unsafe at night so do be careful if out late.

Not impressed and Rivoli Ramblas is certainly not a value hotel

I recently spent two nights at Hotel Rivoli over the Easter Weekend. The location is perfect as the hotel is situated on the Ramblas in between the exuberant Plaza Catalunya and the Market Bouqueria. The front desk was very helpful and the service to tourists was responsive. And the rooms are clean but I expected more from this Hotel with the current star rating. While the condition of the hotel appears to be classy and well kept, the rooms are cramped and not updated. The rooms, in condition and comfort, is no way near the Meridian across the Ramblas, which I happened to stay for 4 nights during the same vacation.

Great location, helpful staff, very clean.

The hotel is in an excellent location and the staff is very helpful. I was very impressed with our housekeeper, she did an impressive job. Unfortunately, the hotel can only have one HVAC system on at a time (heat or air conditioning). During our stay they still had the heat on and it was very hot in our room. I could not keep the window open because of the street noise. The noise from Las Ramblas was unbelievable (even with the window closed) and we were on the 5th floor (6 levels up). This is not the place for a light sleeper.

Great Location!

If you like to be in the center of it all--this is the place. Las Ramblas Street is busy, exciting, and fun. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff very helpful. No problems with English. The lobby bar was a nice plus. Our only problem, we could not turn the heat off, but our window opened and we liked the fresh air and street noise. The room was very European; small. It was not a shock or problem. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Great value in a great city!

This hotel is a great value for those paying in US dollars (rates 1st week in January 2009) ; it’s also conveniently located near metro, good restaurants, Gothic area and grocery stores. Walking The Rambla experience is a must but suggest you request rooms in rear of hotel as street noise can keep you up well into the morning. Will stay there again in return visit.

Major food store outlet across the street will save you a lot on basic edibles (fresh fruit, water, alcohol). Lots of entertainment at the Rambla but look out for pick pockets.

We stayed with our son. 2years old. the hotel prepared the baby bed for him. It was fine.

And the room was clean and well organaized. The location of the hotel was the perfect for us to go around tourist spot. It was very convinient and safty place. There was Carfule express in front of the hotel and many cafes and bacary. Those were very useful for us.

Very nice hotel in a wonderful location

Enjoyed staying at Rivoli Ramblas. Nice hotel with a great location right on Las Ramblas. Action pretty much 24X7 but the rooms were remarkably quiet once you closed the doors to the balcony and lowered the shades.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Directly across the street from the hotel is a Carbours Express Supermarket. You can get water bottles, food and wine there for a fraction of the price at other places. I have no language skills and did just fine. Decent bottle of wine could be bought for a few Euro.

Staff helpful

The hotel was average. We ended up in an interior room with no view but very quiet. However, this was the only room available at 8:00 am and we were allowed to check in very early. The room was small but in a great location on Las Ramblas, walking distance to sights and shopping. Since we only were there for one night it was more than sufficient for our needs.

would stay there again

Enjoyed our stay. Our room over looked Las Rambles and that was a kick. The street was busy with activity all night but when we wanted to sleep we could shut the noise out with the doors and drapes. Also the hotel was well located the hop on hop off bus was a block away and you can see alot using the bus. loved it

Las Ramblas

The location could not be better, and the upstairs terrace was phenomenal. However, the size of the room was a bit small, the price was a tad high, and the bathroom was in slight disrepair. Overall, it was a nice place to stay. The common areas were well kept, and the service was good.
