Solid place, central location.
This hotel is located a few blocks from the Akasaka-mitsuke metro station, which is central enough to get to most of the places we were interested in seeing in under 30 minutes. Internet service was free and reliable. The hotel staff was courteous and spoke passable English. The only inconvenience is the lack of a self-service laundry; we had to go a station down the metro to a more residential area and look for a laundromat. The one we found was on a tiny street and smaller than some closets; youll want to locate one ahead of time.

Well priced hotel in Akasaka right on Ginza line
This hotel is a well priced, well maintained hotel right in the heart of Akasaka. It is a very short walk to the metro lines (Ginza and others) and fairly central. Best of all it has wired internet for people, like myself, who must travel while on the road. Fast as well.

Well worth the money
Hotel is close and convinience to restaurants, shops and metro stations. This place is clean and comfortable. Reasonable telephone charge, we made direct call to US every night (3-4 min) for 3 nights to check on the kids and our total bill was around $5.00. We would love to come back and stay at this place again.

Amazing Hotel
Very convenient location to major metro lines/attractions, great service from the hotel staffs, very helpful with answering your questions. Hotel room is a bit small but very cute and clean with all the amenities youd need. Highly recommended and I would definitely stay at the hotel again!

High quality at a low price
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. Its very clean and spacious at an affordable price. The location is excellent, very close to a subway station and there are many restaurants nearby. We definitely would love to stay there again and would recommend this hotel to others.

Great Htoel
We stayed at the hotel for two weeks. The hotel was always clean, the staff were great and had an very good comprehension of English. Had a single room, a little small. The double rooms have a lot more space. Would stay there again. Only about four blocks from the metro.

Good location, easy to move around the city
Good location (not great) with a subway station 10 min walking distance. Not lot of options to eat around, but easy to move.
Traveler's tip
When you leave the hotel, make a right and go down. There is a Starbucks and other 2 ou 3 options to have breakfast.

oK
Our first hotel in Japan. I suppose, that it is pretty similar to the great quantity of 3,5 star places in Tokyo; the rooms are just to small for 4-star rating. The location near Akasaka-Mitsuke is convenient regarding Metro-services.
Traveler's tip on dining
There are plenty of acceptably priced cafés (for breakfast!) and restaurants in the near vicinity, making the use of the hotels somewhat grim appearing facilities unneccessary.

Very nice hotel!
This was a very comfortable hotel, concierge was very helpful. Only thing was it got really hot in the room, and the pillows were a bit on the tough side. Otherwise, I would stay at this place again!

Great Stay
My friend and I booked this hotel on a recent stay in Tokyo. Its a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest metro which will take you to everything you want to see. There are also some great restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores nearby. The hotel is clean and comfortable (and Im fussy). I wasnt expecting large rooms, since this is Japan, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely stay here again for the price.

Great central Tokyo business hotel...
Fairly new hotel. Standard room is rather cramped (by Western measure), but the beds are comfortable and internet service is good. Akasake-mitsuke is a good subway station for access to central Tokyo. Good selection of restaurants nearby.

Fantastic Hotel and superb location!
The quality and service was impeccable. The metro is a 10 minute walk down the street. A McDonalds is also by the the Metro, for those days when a bite from home is yearned for. There is a 7-11 just a block away. The toilet has a built in bidet that is a dream come true...(it also has a seat-warmer option!)The front desk will make phone calls for tour confirmations when asked and they also have a great map of the local area. The area is safe and pleasant. Great Hotel in every way!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Japan ATMs dont accept cards issued outside of the country. Even the ones located in the American banks. BUT...the post office ATMs do! There is a post office in the office building across the street from the metro! Just remember it has post office hours! There are 2 separate subway systems and the one with an exit by this hotel is the Metro NOT the JR line, so change at Tokyo station when coming from the airport.

Epic stay
A friend and I went from December 08 and stayed throughout the New Year to January 10th. The rooms arent big, but thats no problem. We were only in our rooms to sleep and relax from a long day in Tokyo. The hotel is very close to Akasaka Mitsuke station, which provided lines to pretty much anywhere we wanted to see. The rooms were cleaned everyday, new towels, pajamas; the works. The bathroom was incredible. Shower had amazing water pressure and never got cold. Provided many bathroom essentials and then some. The bed was big and comfortable. The desk had two ethernet jacks to plug up laptops to free internet, which was actually fairly quick. There were also a few wireless signals around. Small flat screen television, was perfect for us. Only twelve channels unless you subscribed to another feature. And under the desk there was a mini-fridge and a water boiler. The staff was very friendly and spoke English. Our maid didnt speak English though, so it was pretty awkward trying to communicate with her if she came into our room when we were still getting ready to leave. Our maid came in around approximately 12-2pm every day to clean. There are many places within walking distance of the hotel, which filled the first couple of days with many things to see and do. Theres also a CitiBank thats opened 24 hours within a block or so of the hotel. Were currently looking into a trip during the summer and are booking at this hotel again. Cant wait to stay here again. Excellent time!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Do not take cabs, as youll find the metro is so much cheaper. The metro tickets were only about 160-390 Yen to most areas. Bring a ton of money for food, as youll be spending most of it to survive. Everything is generally a lot more expensive than it is back home. The hotel is located really close to a CitiBank, which accepts pretty much all major credit cards. We drew out a lot of Yen from there, and only had a few dollars charged on us for a conversion fee.

A great hotel in a great location!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Monterey Akasaka. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom was gorgeous! Such a nice big tub! I live and work in Japan and I thought the room was a very nice size, although there wasnt much room for storing clothes. It wasnt a big deal though. The bed was comfy and the room was always clean. This hotel is so close to Akasaka Mitsuke station which makes it a great location. There are lots of dining options nearby, but your proximity to the station means you can get to many great districts very easily. The only unpleasant aspect was the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the hallway. Our room didnt smell that way, but the hallway did so I didnt complain.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you get a limousine bus to the Excel Hotel, it is so close! We walked to our hotel and it took 5 minutes tops. The limousine bus runs from Narita aiport many times throughout the day, but there is only one from Haneda Airport, but its really easy to get there using the Monorail.

Very nice for the price
This was my first time in Tokyo and the hotel was very nice and comfortable. The room is small, but they provide great amenities in the bathroom, pajamas and flat screen tv. However, only ONE part-time english channel. The staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel is in walking distance to metro and a shopping center.

excellent choice
Stayed here recently (Sept 2008) for five nights. The location is excellent. About 250-300 meters from Akasaka-Mitsuke metro station (exit A) where you can catch 4 metro lines including the Marounuchi and Ginza lines and those two lines take you everywhere in Tokyo for sightseeing and shopping. Furthermore, Akasaka itself is great with tons of restaurants. Hotel has a bunch of 24 hr convenience stores nearby which is great for getting bottled water etc. Right down the street is starbucks which is I where I got my morning coffee and breakfast before hitting the Tokyo streets and sights for the day. Yes the rooms are not huge but its Tokyo! Believe me you will not be in your room much! Besides everything in the hotel is brand new, service and amenities are great (clean pyjamas provided every night!). When I get back to Tokyo, will stay here again for sure.

This was a great Hotel.
The staff were beyond freindly. They did everything to make sure that I had a great time. When you ask for a map of the area, they find out where you are going and pull its location off of the net. So you get a small but very detialed map, unlike most places that hand you a huge map of the whole city. The place was brand new and in great condition.
Traveler's tip
Most cab drivers dont know where this place is so try to get the address in Japanes. It will help. Also the Limo bus from the airport was great, but you need to tell them what hotel to take you to. It was mentioned in a different review. They dont go to this one, and the one that they took me to was not that close.

Really Good Hotel
This was a great hotel. Very conveniently located (2 mins walk from Akasaka Mitsuke Subway Station Exit A). Hotel is brand new...so extremely good condition. Staff is also very helpful. The only issue was that the room was extremely small. The advertised size is 189 sf, but I never realized how small is that...until I got there. That was the only reason why I gave it a 3 in the comfort of the room. Would definitely recommend it especially if one doesnt intend to spend much time in the room.
Traveler's tip
To get to the hotel from Narita...either take the Narita Express train, get off on Tokyo Station, and then take the M Subway line, get off on Akasaka Mitsuke Station, walk out of Exit A...and straight down the road on the left just after the Aston Martin showroom.

I liked its location in Akasaka. The staff was very friendly and helpful (especially since I dont know Japanese).
Traveler's tip on nightlife
There is an English Pub down the street which I enjoyed called The Mermaid. Very good mix of people.

Compact but comfortable!
The Hotel Monterey Aksaska is well situated for sightseeing in Tokyo - a few minutes walk from a subway stop that is served by two central lines. The rooms are small but that was no surprise given all of the reviews that I had read (this seems pretty standard for Tokyo). However, the room was in excellent condition (clean, good strong shower, etc.) and housekeeping did an excellent job. The staff at the front desk had varying levels of English proficiency but they were always friendly and ready to help. I would definitely stay in this hotel again on my next stay in Tokyo!

Great hotel
Good location, only 15 minute walk to Roppongi and close to 2 metro stations. Restaurants and coffee shops are near by. Staff are lovely and rooms are decent size for Tokyo. Great shower. Would definitely go back.
