Elegant

Elegant place to stay in Beijing. Room was top quality and service was very good. Close to tourist attractions.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Taxi drivers at the airport did not know where this hotel is located nor did a map help. Recommend getting card with name in Chinese characters.

The hotel that exceeded expectations!

It’s one of the best hotels that we’ve stayed in. We’re celebrating our wedding anniversary at the Regent Beijing and the hotel staff were very thoughtful in setting up our room with rose petals daily, we had a complimentary bottle of wine, and the hotel manager even wrote us a congratulations card! Starbucks is just outside the hotel. While Wangfujing is within walking distance, the hotel is nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Regent Beijing has way exceeded our expectations and we’ll definitely be staying there at our next visit.

Very Impressive Hotel

We stayed two nights in the Regent Beijing, and upgraded our room upon arrival to an executive suite which allowed us to use the club on the top floor which included breakfast and drinks during the day. Everything was handled exquisitely by the staff. I did notice that at the end of November the hotel seemed largely empty of guests.

Traveler's tip on dining

We found the restaurant Lan to be disappointing, even though it came widely recommended. We did enjoy the famous Peking Duck restaurant Da Dong, although we had to wait 45 minutes for a table.

Top quality, definitely will go back if I stay in Beijing again.

This hotel was beautiful both inside and out. The glass wall looking into the bathroom was a bit odd, but the furnishings were very modern and elegant. The staff was very capable and their were zero language issues which is always a relief. The exercise facilities are first rate and match a good fitness club for quality, with a pilates room and spinning. The pool and hot tub area was fantastic. Cool and relaxing. Definitely the best hotel I have personally stayed in. Situated very close to Tiananmen square and the night market it is very convenient to many attractions in Beijing.

Impressive and a great deal

We had a wonderful 3 nights at the Regent in early October. Fantastic rooms, great facilities, good location, and a superb executive lounge. We booked through Expedia and got a killer rate for an executive room. It was well worth it, since there were 3 of us, so the deal included buffet breakfast for 3, evening cocktails, and heavy hors d’oeuvres - so essentially breakfast and dinner (and drinks!) daily for 3 people. I did happen to see a printout in the lounge of customers who were staying on the executive levels, and what their booking source was. Expedia accounted for well over 50 percent of what appeared to be several dozen registered executive level guests. So clearly a good thing going - at least for people like us during that time period. I would highly recommend this hotel.

If you can get a deal....

As you would expect with a brand new 5 star hotel, the Regent is quite attractive. It is also well located. My disappointment was in two areas. First, the entire hotel was freezing and there was no way to turn off the Air Conditioning in the room. Sure there is a in-room control but it was totally ineffective. Second the service was polite but marginal from check in to check out. We asked for an extended check, the oblged but than let the key expire so we could not get back in the room. We got a new key only to discover that the safe stopped functioning for the same reason. At breakfeast, i waited close to an hour only to hear the waffle machine was broken.

Nice - but not suited for Western taste.

Beautiful rooms cool factor at "10" .. but the staff is very poor at speaking english. I visited a dozen properties in China and stayed with three ... this staff was the worse equipped to accommodate my needs. The on site shopping, restaurants and entertainment left much to be desired. If you speak fluent Manderin Chinese ... this is a good hotel for you, otherwise go down the street.

Very Impressive Hotel

We were very happy with our stay at the Regent. It was a conveniently located hotel with every possible luxury. The Rolls Royce dealer is actually located in the lobby of the hotel! The room was excellent, the service was splendid and the willingness to help in every possible way was impressive. We had our college age son staying in our room and they provided a comfortable additional bed at no charge. My wife used the spa the last morning of our travel and had a great massage. I can recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

Because the hotel is fairly new, many of the taxi drivers don’t yet know where it is located. You need to get the information card from the desk to easily provide directions for the driver to return you to the hotel.

Regent Beijing, excellent choice for American Travelers

We stayed at the Regent in December 2007. The hotel was easy walking distance to The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven. Nice restaurants in the neighborhood, Starbucks right across the street. Reasonable rate. The room was exceptional, very comfortable bed, excellent amenities. Taxi to hotel from airport was equivalent to $10-12 US dollars. Staff were professional, fluent in english. The breakfast buffet was expensive though-$30US dollars. I would definately return to this hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Caution - the breakfast buffet is excellent, however was expensive, $30-35 per person US dollars. Easy walk to local attractions, we felt safe and had no problems. Don’t book tours to the Great Wall, as they tack on shopping trips, instead, hire a private driver and have him wait for you.

Excellent Location in Beijing

When you are in a sprawling city like Beijing, it is good to live just above an underground train station. The Regent, above a train station, is very convenient. The hotel is a shining new building with very new facilities (huge gym and pool) and not too pricey. Great business or holiday hotel.

The Regent Beijing

The amenities were awesome and had almost everything one could need in these ancient Chinese boxes. The room was very elegant with a nice bath tub. One could see in the far distance the imperial palace. Nice location.

Traveler's tip on dining

THere is a very interesting food stand market on the same street (Jingbao Street) a few blocks down towards the palace (past the Wangfujing Rd).
