unique experience in a cave dwelling
Staying at this hotel was a highlight of our 3 week tour of southern Italy. The hotel is located in the Sassi area of historic cave dwellings. The rooms are mostly cave, yet the new hotel is built in the historical style of the area. I recommend at least a two night stay to explore the area and enjoy the fine restaurants. If you have a good map, the hotel is accessed by car from the northeast and the hotel will arrange the parking.

Fantastic location in the Sassi
The hotel is in a fantastic location in the Sassi. The views from the rooms was incredible, especially at night. Don’t worry about the parking, or lack of parking at the hotel. We dropped off our luggage then the hotel arranged to have our car driven to the offsite parking garage and had it returned when we were ready to depart. You won’t need it for the duration of your stay in Matera. I can’t wait to go back to Matera and will definitely stay here again.
