A Labyrinth
The Mahogany Hotel is part of a larger complex that offers a wide variety of choices that should accommodate most anyones taste. But the way it is set up each section can be accessed on the same floor and so coming in late at night, tired, I ended up having to go back to the main desk just to find the elevator and then again to find my section. Also, on my first stopover I was given a room that was not even in the Mahogany section but in the Yucca section which I later discovered was not nearly as nice as Mahogany. The common areas are great with a gorgeous pool, nice beach area, lovely breakfast diningroom, lounge with live music, restaurant overlooking the sea, etc.

Amazing beach
Beautiful bar. Wonderful food. Nice, but not exceptional, room. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Disappointing
The hotel is being renovated, making it difficult to find Reception, then park the car, and then get to the room with luggage, due to a lot of fences and hills, and no handicapped access. The room itself was very disappointing for what is called a 3 star hotel. We reserved a king bed but found 2 twin beds. There were no windows in the room; the only way to get natural light was to open up a roll-up door that opened right at ground level. So, our choice was zero privacy and light or darkness and privacy. The drapes were useless because they totally blocked the light, even when the door was open. The tile floor gives an industrial feel, but makes sense for all the dirt and mud that got treked in due to all the rain. Because of all the moisture, the room smelled a little moldy. The beach compared to other public beaches was disappointing, but the pool was great. 3 different areas, so there was plenty of pool area for laps or families playing. Everything in the complex looked old and in need of repair or a good paint job. The fitness center had old equipment, some of which did not turn on, and was only open for 3 hours on a Sunday. Overall, the best things about the hotel were the pool and the satellite TV. We didnt spend much time in the room.
Pool was great for kids.
