Great Deal in Ocean City MD - Carousel Resort and Hotel

Expedia pulls off a super deal in OC, the Carousel Hotel, very friendly people, real clean room (extra large), enjoyed breakfast, service was great. Go to OC all the time and this has been the best deal going by a long shot, Thanks Carousel and Expedia

Ocean City is family oriented, great location, good food, golf is some of the best on the east coast for a decent price and super night life either walking the Boardwalk /beach or shopping.

Would definitely stay there again.

The Carousel is a large resort and condominum located on the upper end of Ocean City. It has many points of interests in the facility and within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and responsive. Though this is not a new facility it is well maintained. I would recommend the Carsouel to anyone.

No at all what I expected!

I asked for a view, they gave a room overlooking the ’atrium’ or center of the hotel. Not even a pool I felt like I was in prison. My light bulbs were all out in the room when I arrived and I had to wait a whole hour for them to come up with more light bulbs! To top it off there was no continental breakfast offered, you would have to sign up for it the night before and of course I was never offered. Huge disappointment and incredible waist of money.

Recommended, but with warnings!

The Carousel was clean and the service was decent, check in&out was easy, staff friendly, but overall we were disappointed. For one thing, we paid extra for an oceanfront room and got put on the 5th floor, which looks out over the roof! There was no ocean to be seen - just water tanks, vents and air conditioners. We were there for a motorcycle rally, which means we like to ride during the day and then eat/drink at the hotel at night. EVERYTHING (bar, restaurant, room service) closes up by 10 (or 11 for bar) and they don’t allow "room parties." Security is constantly coming around and asking people to be quiet - even at 7pm! They never came to our room, but I saw them all the time roaming the halls. There was a respiratory therapist convention going on and I even saw them close down a " room party" of four or five middle age convention goers who were playing Uno in their room! We ended up having to go back out every night to have some fun, which means we were limited to walking distance since we never drink and drive. They could have made a fortune

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

This hotel is really set up for families who will be done for the day by 8pm. Its not for couples or people who like to party on vacation. I would not stay here again for bike week. Also if you are interested in the indoor facilities (ice rink,etc.) be sure to check if a convention is planned because none of those facilities are available during trade shows. Also make sure "oceanfront" means you can see the ocean before you pay the extra money!

The room was spacious with ocean view. Floor carpet was old and dirty.

The room had a funny blue curtain which you had to pull to close the inside window to the corridor. Though we had a great ocean view from the front balcony. I did not risk to use an indoor swimming pool. It looked like it needed to be repainted or at least to be sanitized. In general the hotel produced an impression like in need of refurbishment.

Not impressed

Although it wasn’t overly dirty, and it wasn’t during the summer rush I feel that service could have been better. No one was rude just not nice. When I asked how to get to the beach they told me how and then said how eroded the beach was that I would not have room to walk. That was a lie. At high tide there was not miles of beach but there was plenty of room to walk. All of the rides in the lobby were always unplugged and most said out of order for most of the stay. We were not notified when booking the room that the indoor pool or ice rink would be closed for part of our stay. We didn’t find out until the day they were closing them.

Gotta Go Again

Carousel’s location was perfect for my family. A local resident suggested late Aug as good time to go to OC (less traffic). Hotel has things to do for any family from kids to grandparents(ice skating, 3 pools, arcade).Beach was great, although there was some erosion from weather. Several good eateries which alway had a deal on dining (kids eat free, $5 burger nite, all u can eat). Hotel has rooms to fit any budget from standards to condos. Planning my next trip to Carousel now

Probably won’t stay again

Beach is best part of this property. We are in our mid 20’s and went for a couples get away. Rooms outdated and overpriced. Front desk was eating and talking to her friend while checking us in.

Could’ve been better

The room didn’t have that comfortable feel. We had a room with a terrace but it overlooked a roof which was very disappointing. Customer service could be a little better. Would I go there again? Yes but not for a long period of time.

Nice Price for the Location and Amenities

Hotel is located on the beach with convenient bar and grill steps from oceanside pool and beach. Hotel is not brand new but very clean. We noticed hotel staff cleaning whenever we were coming or going.

Kids loved skating on the indoor ice rink which provided relaxing entertainment for a tired mom and dad as well as an option on a rainy day.

Nice Family Getaway

Hotel was nice. Good Ammenities, Indoor pool and Jacuzi, Outdoor pool with Kiddie pool,Poolside Bar, Ice Skating Rink, Gameroom w/Pool Table. Nice accessibility to Beach. Would definitely stay there again. Like the fact that our room had a mini fridge and mini sink and counter to store the food we had brought along with us. My friends stayed in the condo suite and the place is fabulous! Very roomy for three couples. If you dont want a lot of kids around though, this is not the place for you.

Not a bad place

Good place to stay for short or long trip, inexpensive, good location, and right on beach. Extra bonus right near hot spot called Secreats if you wanna go out for cocktails.

Would definately not recomend this hotel to Anyone

Their was a mouse in our room .The last nite of our 3 nite stay we found it next to my sons sneakers. Front desk sent someone up to take care of the problem and they stepped on it with their shoes killing it. How horrifying. We got a new room and slept restlessly. We have yet to be compinsated for the inconvenience, only an apology thus far.

Very expensive. Difficult finding places to eat if your family is not a fan of seafood and buffets.

Not real happy with the room.

Air onditioning not reliable or adjustale. You were either hot or freezing.

Plenty to do in the area to get out of te hotel. The boaqrdwalk, Baja Recreation (Go Carts, etc).

Great family hotel

The ice skating rink in the middle of the hotel was unique. It is really close to the beach. There weren’t any decent restaurants close by or attached to the hotel. They have a tennis court, but bring your own racquet and balls.

Good Hotel for the Price

Carousel Resort Hotel & Condominiums is a good value for your dollar. It is conveniently located with shops, and activities around the vicinity. The hotel also provided a variety of activities including the ice skating rink which my children experienced for the first time. The staff was courteous and helpful. This was our first time in Ocean City and at this hotel and we would return on a future visit.

Crowded

We had to wait in line for 20 minutes to check in and there was a 5-10 minute wait for the elevator every time. Luckily, I was on the second floor so we took the stairs. Otherwise, I probably would have checked out.

Not impressed, wouldnot go back

Hotel did not have enough access to the rooms, the elevators were overcrowded, waiting time for them was ridiculous. The room was not clean, and if you were not available to have the room cleaned when the help was making their rounds the room did not get cleaned, the beds stayed unmade, no wet towels were picked up or replaced. Very unsatisfactory. The food was not good at all.

Better than expected

Although we had stayed at the Carousel years ago I had read some recent reviews that were less than glowing. We were pleasantly surprised. The view wasn’t good but we only booked the room a few days prior to arrival. The room was clean, the beds were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very accommodating. We were very satisfied. It’s an older facility but well maintained.

Nice oceanfront location.

Don’t dry your hair and iron your clothes.....

The hotel was fine enough in all aspects, but we are still extremely disappointed by one thing. The power went out several times in a row one evening while we were getting ready to go out for dinner. The last time the maintenance man came by our room and asked what we were doing in there if we didn’t mind answering. I said we were only running the hair dryer and the iron (a brand new that night as the the previous one fell into a million pieces earlier). He looked as serious as could be and said we couldn’t do that. The room wasn’t wired to handle those two, and only those two items running at once. This is a huge hotel, and we were flabbergasted. I truly expected more. We ended up missing the free ice show that night and ate dinner elsewhere.

It was okay

The room was spacious. I liked having the small refrigerator and the sink to wash off our fruit. When I checked in and asked if I could get info on OC from the front desk, they directed me to a rack of brochures. Towels are not provided for the beach and the beach chairs provided are low to the ground and not comfortable. The lunch we had at the hotel was pretty mediocre and the soft-shelled crab sandwich was ruined by the heavy batter and deepfrying. The ice skating rink was nice and the hotel seems good for families looking for a place on the ocean and nothing fancy. The remote did not work on the television unless you stood right in front of it. Room was clean.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The $2 all day bus was great. We used it the entire time and left the car parked. We walked less than a mile from the hotel to a local crab house that had a great all-you-can eat $22 special of steamed crabs and roasted corn. Yummy! We loved the boardwalk - Thrasher’s fries, Drumsie’s ice cream and Fishers caramel popcorn, the rides, the games, the arcade. We had so much fun.

Not impressed

The rooms have shabby furniture and need serious updating. The rooms are nice and large, however.

Great for families!

Overall great deal...good for families....I really liked that breakfast was free for kids.

Good Family Hotel

Decided last minute to take family down to OC for July 4th weekend and was able to book this hotel for 2 nights!! Was very happy when we got there early in the morning and was able to get in our room when check in time wasn’t until 4pm! Rooms are a little dated but in all hotel was in good condition and clean!!! Kids loved the pool, rides and watching the ice show while eating dinner. Mom and dad loved hotel being right in the beach (for running back to the room, etc) and they also provided you with beach chairs. If you are going on the 4th get a bayside room, you can sit right on your balcony and see the fireworks right infront of you. Another plus supermarkets, fast food and medical clinic right across the street. Would stay at this hotel again.
