Great value!
Great value, good breakfast and only about 20min walk from Temple bar OR you can jump on a bus and get there in 5 mins.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Make sure you take the Dublin bus tour, it’s a great way to see the city and as you can hop on and off it eliminates the need for a car

a little far from Dublin center but close enough to walk and the convience of a full pub and sports bar downstairs made up for it, the breakfast is filling and good

Wonderful Staff and Great Location!
The Portobello is a very old hotel and the rooms are dated. No airconditioning, but didn’t need it. Kept my window open most nights but then could hear the street noises. My room had two single beds and they weren’t that comfortable but overall the room met it’s needs. Great & beautiful location on the Grand Canal. I had a nice view out my window. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, helpful & pleasant and the Irish Breakfast was wonderful. More food than anyone could eat. Had dinner 2 nights in the Portobello Pub and they were great and very reasonable. Again, wonderful staff in the restaurant. The bathroom was OK, nice shower but tub hard to get into and yicky mold spots on the ceiling. That really grossed me out!
Traveler's tip on dining
We found that the meals in the Pubs were fantastic and reasonable with huge portions. I would suggest finding a local pub for all your dinners, we did and were pleasantly surprised at the quality & price.
