Bucharest under renovation
The hotel is very nice and the staff is lovely.Nice breakfast. They made great suggestions, arranged tours, and were incredibly helpful and sweet. However, the area that the hotel is in (as of August 09) is completely under renovation and you cant imagine the mess. The entire street in front of the hotel is ripped up and you have to pull your luggage through inches of sand and dirt since a car cannot access the road. The entire surrounding area is the same, forcing you to walk either in the sand or on rickety boardwalks. It was very difficult for 2 women traveling alone. Unfortunate since the location is close to many sites. Wait until the repair work is done to go to Bucharest, then stay at the Rembrandt.
Traveler's tip on dining
See above review on problems traveling in old section (Lipscani) of Bucharest. In the area of the Rembrandt is the famous Caru eau Bere Restaurant. Very good, not really expensive, and gorgeous. Ethnic Dancing on most nights.

something special in the heart of bucharest
A very good location. There is no private parking, only free public , if you find a place to park.Decent breakfastroom.Very big bussiness room-not so clean bathroom. All the area was under construction-rather noisy .Helpfull and polite stuff.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you travell with car be very carefull because it is too easy to get lost-not many signs to saw the way to the city center

It might be perfect for you...
The Rembrandt Hotel is a cute little place. Exactly my idea of a "boutique hotel". You will like it if: Like me, you want a little place in the middle of Bucharest where you can lie low and not be bothered by anyone. Like me, you dont make it to breakfast once in six days and dont care that they have no other food service except delivery (although tasty and efficient but not available at night). But, if like me, you find the twin beds pushed together incredibly annoying, and if paying a luxury rate for just "cute" is disappointing, then you probably wont go back or recommend it to others. My biggest disappointment with the Rembrandt is that it pretends to be more than what it is: a cute, clean, interesting, tiny hotel but nothing more. I liked this hotel but Ill probably try somewhere else next time.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
I rented a car with GPS. I needed it to travel outside of Bucharest but it was mostly useless outside my little city-center hotel and parking was so difficult that I didnt move it without good reason. Id suggest renting a car and staying further out of the city for the best of both worlds.
