Perfect Location in Venice!

We recently stayed at the Hotel Al Codega for 2 nights and were very pleased. We would definitely return! The staff was always helpful, room was lovely, fabulous location, and breakfast was perfect in the intimate breakfast room. We had difficulty finding the hotel, but with one phone call - the hotel sent a young man to meet us who assisted with our luggage. After a long hot soak in the fabulous bath in our room, we were ready to experience the magical city of Venice! Our next stay will definitely be longer.

Walk AWAY from St. Mark’s Square and let yourself get lost on the beautiful back alleys. We spent 2 wonderful days just ambling through the quiet neighborhoods soaking up the local lifestyle.

Al Codega Hotel Venice

The Hotel Al Codega in Venice, is a small 28 room hotel and is conveniently located close to St. Mark’s square. We had a difficult time finding the hotel on our arrival because it is down a small street and you turn into a court yard. If you see an Armani store you are very close (50 yards) to the hotel. I like quiet hotels and this hotel met my expectations for quiet. The Al Codega offers a very good breakfast that is included in the room rate. The amenities at the hotel are limited. There is no steam iron available because we are told that the fire code does not allow steam irons in Venice hotels. You can have your pants pressed by hotel staff for 5 euros. There is a very small bar and there is Internet access at a very reasonable 2 euros per hour. The Internet is not broadband and is close to dial-up speed. The TV in the room had about 3 channels in English, CNN, BBC and Weather. There was one news paper in the hotel written in English that you had to grab fast. The front desk during the day has Julie as the desk clerk. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about activities and transportation in Venice. The hotel does not have an email address on their website to contact them in advance for questions. One bathroom oddity that I found at both the Al Codega in Italy and another hotel Spain is the glass shower door. The door is hinged but only covers 60% of the bathtub. Trying to take shower and keep the water in the tub is a challenge.

Traveler's tip on dining

Be prepared for very expensive meals at restaurants in the evening. We did find a 4 course meal at the Al Chianti restaurant for 17 euros each. This is not a 4 star restaurant but the meals are good. Sometimes you live to eat and other times you eat to live. If you want ambiance then expect to pay 35 plus euros each at the better restaurants.
