Excellent hotel for the price paid

Moderately priced hotel in the very center of everything. Just one corner with Lavalle st and two blocks away from Florida st, both walking and business centers. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Half pension lunch was OK but not much to select from. Friendly general staff, but not so friendly managers. Eventhough we stayed 15 days at hotel, Food and Drink Manager & Security Manager NEVER greeted or smiled at us. We seemed to be like transparent persons to them. There is a permanent security guard near entrance, but don’t expect no matter what - that he will open the door for you.

We have plenty of time to visit all mayor attractions in the area. Be aware that prices can change depending on you nationality. You can get better ticket prices if you find someone local buy them for you. Don’t take the open top bus rides, otherwise you will NOT get to know BsAs. Take you time, walk around, talk to people, take the subway - and you will get to know the real Argentina. People are friendly and helpfull. Obviously don’t get late at nigth on dark streets and don’t show to much jewelry or money. US dollars are generally acepted, but it is easier to use "pesos" and more secure. Look out for funny money, the are some good color-photocopies. Learn how to recognice the real ones.

great place in Buenos Aires

The hotel was great. I had some problems when I made the reservation, because Expedia described the rooms as having either two single beds in a room or one double bed. It turns out the two single beds were doubles and the one double was actually a king size, so we had a lot more room then we expected. They were a good size room and comfortable too. The hotel is rihgt in the heart of everything, so very convenient. We had some problems with the airline we came in on, as they lost one of our bags. The front desk people were very helpful and continued to call the airline for us for two days trying to locate our bag. They were great!!

Excellent in every way

Expedia did me right. Super reasonable rate and very classy hotel. The staff was very gracious all around and the room was very clean, quiet and, what I believe to be, high-end. This hotel made me think of some very expensive boutique hotel in NYC or Chicago. I will definitely have Expedia put me here the next time I’m in BA. Superb location for seeing downtown and eating at fine "parillas".

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The hotel will keep your luggage securely if you’re checked out and waiting to go to the airport later in the day.

good hotel in micro-center

Hotel is close to all of the "action", across is a Chinese buffet which is excellent. The breakfast is very good and the hotel personnel are superb.

Please Stay Away from Rochester Classic

I DO NOT recommend this hotel. Other than the good location and great breakfast, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. Despite the negative reviews, I decided to book a 4 nights stay through Expedia which also offered a free lunch and a free facial spa. Upon check-in, I asked about the free lunch and spa, and was demanded by the front desk, show me where it says free lunch and spa. I promptly showed my Expedia e-mail and she insisted on keeping my e-mail and said they will take care of it. I asked our waitress about the free lunch and she replied no free lunch. After 15 mins, with no sign of the waitress returning to our table, we left the empty restaurant feeling rather awkward, almost like we were begging for food. The wash basin in our bathroom had a broken pipe and water was flowing from the basin directly down onto the bathroom floor. The toilet had a faulty lever and it took several attempts before we could get it to flush. When we tried to call housekeeping, we realized that the phone was not working. Later, we found out that the TV was also not working and the air conditioner alarm went off in the middle of the night keeping us awake the whole night. I asked for a wake-up call, reminding them that the phone was not working. They assured me that if they will send somebody up to my room if the phone is still not fixed. No phone call (since the phone was still dead) and no one came to wake us up the next morning, and no apologizes when asked about it.

Great Hotel In Buenos Aires ....Can’t wait to go back

I was there for on 1 night and 2 days, I found everything to be great, the staff, whatever I needed went out of there way. The breakfast in the morning was more than I needed.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Without question, the thing that you must experience is the El Viego Almacen, and wonderful Dinner and Tango Experience. The hotel can set it up, they will come and get you, take you to dinner, then walk across the street to a wonderful 2 hour Tango experience, it was great. I would do it again

A decent hotel at best

The website pictures make the place look new, clean, stylish etc. The lobby matches the website look but that’s about it. The room was typical small but very dingy, dirty carpet, bathroom was in rough shape, the balcony door fell off its hinges while we were there. And did I mention the noise? I don’t know if their listing mentions the buses. If so, it probably states that its convenient to bus lines. In reality, every bus in the city passes down the little street in front of the hotel, all day and all night... It is a decent hotel for the price but if you can afford more, stay elsewhere. If you stay there, get a room in back, away from the street...

Traveler's tip on shopping

The hotel is right off Florida, the main shopping walk. Prices aren’t too bad there, not the usual tourist ripoffs. Check to see if the market is going on by Recoleta cemetary, beautiful arts & crafts for great prices.

Very good!

Very good hotel. We had just a problem with the room because the it wasn’t clean when we arrived but after that, everything was ok. Very nice rooms, good services and excellent breakfast. Near from the most important city attractions.

Nice Experience

We were in Buenos Aires only for a few days and did not spend much time in the hotel, the people were nice, helpful, the room was small but nice, clean and with everything we needed. Great location, walking distance to places like Florida Street, Pink House, Puerto Madero, El Obelisco.

Rochester Classic has been recently remodeled and all our rooms are decorated with a classic style (as the pictures show on our website). Moreover, all our staff is trained on an ongoing basis which allows us to deliver an adequate service and to exceed guest expectations.

Well located, in general is only an old Hotel, definetely not a 3 Star Hotel

Air conditioning not functioning, very old and malfunctioning elevators. Raggy sheets and towels. Minibar consists of only 4 cans of soda and 4 bottled water. They try to charge you for stuff you haven’t used. Food is decent but same items every day. There was no Gym and no "Spa" as sold and advertised. This is not even a 3 Star Hotel. There is no offer of tours or other activities at the desk. In my opinion, just another small mediocre town hotel in a big city. First time I disagree with Expedia, and this is the only time I feel I purchased something different than the one was advertised.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The good thing is that Buenos Aires is a a great place to visit, anytime. The Hotel is in the Heart of Capital Federal, very handy and close to many historical places. There is good food just around the corner and the subway just half block. Despite the hotel, I loved to visit Buenos Aires and I would go back hundreds of times.

Rochester Classic hotel has 4 guest elevators plus 2 service elevators all of which receive ongoing maintenance in order to ensure their proper work as well as the safety of our guests. Our minibar only offers beverages; food has to be requested through our room service department. The gym is on the eleventh floor, and opens daily from 7AM to 10PM. It is included in the rate. All spa services are either offered as in-room services or at gym. During the stay, guests decide whether to have services done –depending on the service chosen. Rochester Hotels has a service delivery department which is in charge of all guests’ needs during their stay. They take care not only of any special requirements but also of special tours and leisure activities. This service is available 24-7.

Worst service ever

The room was a little small but clean and comfortable the only problem with it was that the heat was too high that you must open the window to survive and the neighborhood is really noisy so it is really hard to sleep well there. The lobby and dinner room are ok and the breakfast included is not bad at all. The main problem is the people attending the place is really rude and they dont have a clue of what customer service is.

Our hotel is located in downtown Buenos Aires –one of the most popular districts for tourists- which allows our guests to freely move in the city simply walking some blocks to get to the most important spots of the city. Our hotel has sound-proof windows but unfortunately, and as any other big city, Buenos Aires faces every day its noise problems. Our buffet breakfast is served daily from 7AM to 10.30AM. It includes home-made pastries and bakery, ham, cheese, fruit, cereals, scrambled eggs, juices, dairy products between some others. Moreover, all our staff is trained on an ongoing basis which allows us to deliver an adequate service and to exceed guest expectations. Hopefully, we constantly receive congratulations for the service provided by our staff.

Not impressed.

The Expedia website shows pictures of the Hotel lobby which is quite pleasant and clean as is the dining room. However, the room was another story - the carpet was filthy and missed my home slippers to be able to walk on. Bathroom fixtures very old, basin had a crack and hole in it. Bath/shower had very bad mildew. Terrace door came off the track on top. The neighborhood is very noisy and seedy at night as there are plenty of street workers and night establishments around the corner. This is a 2 star Hotel at best.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Visit city by renting a van/taxi for US $10.00 an hour. Name of the place is "Argentina & Car" Fit 3 adults comfortably. They can be contacted at the airport. Tango shows: Food is fair at best - eat somewhere else and go for drinks only. Fast Food is cheap: about US $4.00 for steak and potatoes if you are on a budget. Not the best but won’t starve.
