Mixed with good and not-so-good qualities
Good points:- Nice location for accessing northern Black Forest and Baden Baden. Also close to Herrenalb old town. Rooms with terraces facing the valley enjoy good views at a slightly higher fee. Not-so-good points:- Confusing booking confirmation - I was told by the hotel reception that I could only stay for 2 nights despite my booking had confirmed for 3 nights. Only after further negotiation and insistence could I retain my booking. But it somehow spoiled my mood of vacation. Insufficient advice - hotel staff was not able to advise hiking trails despite they are abundant in the area. Some poorly printed materials were provided to us. Furthermore, they were only in German, a language foreign to us. We did try to pick a hiking trail but it was generally quite difficult to locate the trails since few clear signs were posted in the surrounding areas. If the local tourist office or the hotel could supplement more informative guides, preferably in English, so much the better for short-stay vacationers like us. Third bed - was made up from a sofa, with pillow made up from a cushion. There was enough room to put in an extra proper bed if the hotel wanted. That would make the third person sleep much more comfortably. Hot water - we were told by the hotel reception to get hot drinking water from the tap in the room. Normally a hotel should supply it in water bottles through its room service. Strange enough.

Mixed feelings
We reserved a room with a mountain view and when we arrived we were informed that they accidentally gave our room to someone else however we were given a "French style" room in the back of the hotel that barely fit our luggage. We were not offered a price adjustment only a free breakfast for one of our two days stay. Staff not friendly towards foreigners and felt we were taken advantage of. The wait staff completely ignored us when we dined at the hotel.
Traveler's tip
The countryside is beautiful and there are many villages to visit. Once you get past the frustration of the hotel you can enjoy what Germany and the Black Forest have to offer.
