Vancouver and Soleil - the sweet sound of a weekend getaway

I have the rose-colored glasses (Canuck fan) on when it comes to YVR, but the city is amazing. Flew in, hopped on the Canada Line, and in less than 30, hopped off at City Centre station to see a beautiful bay of water, majestic mountains, and a city alive with energy. Between the diversity of people, food, and activities, this city really has it all. Stayed at the Soleil. Fantastic hotel and smart staff that appropriately ragged on my compadre for wearing Penguins gear. The Penguins ribbing earned 5 stars alone. Really, great hotel with helpful staff. They pointed us to Coast on Alberni for dinner. Great seafood with a trendy, upscale atmosphere. Fortunately, we showed up early enough to avoid the reservation rush. After that, hit a pub. Ventured on our own to find Yagger’s on Pender. Not the nicest area of town, but a great place. Great service from the barkeeps, excellent cocktails, we learned to say ho-key instead of ha-key, etc. Watched the Canucks lambaste the Penguins after singing the Canadian National Anthem with the best National Anthem singer ever. Hit the Keg for a good post-game meal. Sadly, that was it due to work. The best compliment I can give is that I would definitely go back to YVR itself, Soleil, Coast, Yagger’s, the Canucks, and the Keg. I would look for other options when it comes to the other stops.

Recommend Highly, Great service

Took my teenage daughters skiing and to see Vancouver. Spent 6 days there. Picked this hotel for the Boutique feel. It is in downtown Vancouver. Staff (Brett) and others were friendly and helpful. Brett gave us a tutorial when we first got there about everything from money exchange to city buses to where to eat and what to see which was most helpful. Restaurant and room service was great and there are several wonderful places nearby. We took the city bus all around without problem. I can’t say enough good about this place. We went from after Christmas thru Jan 3rd in 2010. Maid service was polite, friendly and efficient. It’s a smaller hotel. Rooms are elegant, but not huge. WiFi is available, but it was faster to use the avail. office space to make Greyhound reservations to Whistler. We had the room with two twin beds and a pull out queen sofa. Quite comfortable. Taxi’s and transportation are readily available. 30 min from Airport. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Very Comfortable, Excelent Breakfast

Very charming little suites, terrific TV’s with lots of channel choices. Service was generally friendly but particularly good in the restaurant and the breakfast menu is both outstanding and reasonable by hotel standards anyway. The don’t have their own gym but they offer a fair rate to use the YWCA next door which is very nice with a good array of equipment.

VERY SATISFIED

Just got back from Vancouver a few days ago and had stayed at this hotel for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by the location, appearance and cleanliness of this hotel as stated in expedia. I read many reviews on this hotel before booking and I can guarantee that all were true to their word. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to be in the center of the city, where everything is walking distance and surrounded by restaurants and convenience stores. The staff were very helpful and their city tour was one of the best that I’ve encountered. If you like coziness and feeling comfortable, this is the place to stay. My first choice if I ever go back to Vancouver.

The restaurant in the hotel Le Soleil and the one around the corner from it (I forgot the name)

The Warmth of Hotel Le Soleil

Like its namesake, Hotel Le Soleil provides its customers with a warm and welcomed experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout my visit. My room was cozy and beautiful, the decor was in rich reds and yellows. The bed was very comfortable and I really appreciated the Aveda products in the bathroom. Considering I was staying in the heart of Vancouver, the room was pleasantly quiet. One night I had difficulity getting a dinner reservation at my chosen restaurant and returned back to the hotel hungry. At the recommendation of the doorman, I obtained a table at the hotel’s small, yet posh restaurant. Following the suggestion of my waitress, I tried their signature seafood salad which proved delicious and filling. Though this was my first time staying at the Hotel Le Soliel, it will certainly not be my last. I will think of it fondly as my little sunny place in the big city of Vancouver.

Try the new Canada Line skytrain in Vancouver. You can get out to the asian shopping malls in Richmond within a half hour. The stops on the Canada Line include the Olympic Village, a new large casino, and Aberdeen Centre. For $9.00 CF you can purchase an all day pass at the skytrain station. This pass is good on all Translink services.

Impressive Services

It was my first time visitng Vancouver. I was happy that I stayed at Hotel Le Soleil for five days. It is very convenient to Airtrain and tour places. The room was very clean. I felt I was going home everyday. While I was there, it rained everyday. But, the concierge processionals ensured to let me to borrow an umbrella everyday. I would stay there again during my next visit.

Vancouver’s hidden gem

We arrived to smiling faces and helpful staff. The room was clean and above expectations. Just the views could have been better but that’s what you get when you stay in the CBD

Great location, outstanding service

This hotel is within walking distance to many great Vancouver sites: Gaslamp, Canada Place, and even GM Place. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room was clean and in great condition, and the bed was extremely relaxing (especially after the Grouse Grind!). We got a great price on our room and would certainly consider staying again!

WONDERFUL

Prior to our Canadian Rockies Tour and Alaskan Cruise we stayed for 6 nights at The Hotel Le Soliel. It was a home away from home. The luxury and location were first class. The rooms were magnificent, clean and very comfortable. The location was safe, friendly and close to shops, walks and restaurants. I would return in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone traveling to Vancouver.

Traveler's tip on dining

The hotel is located by many good local eateries and restaurants and is close to the bay which has lovely views.

Great hotel!

What a great hotel. The suites were spacious, clean and comfortable. The mattress was a blessing every night after very long days of sightseeing. Centrally located which made it easy for 4 women to get around. Staff was friendly and gave us great reccomendations for restaurants and getting around.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Gastown, Canada Place and Downtown all within walking distance. Hop On and Off Trolley combined with Vancouver Smart Card were worth the cost. We managed to visit most top sights in our 4 day pre-cruise visit.

Excellent Hotel and Restaurant

The staff at the Le Soleil is fantastic and go out of there way to meet your every need. And, as an added bonus the Copper Chimney Restaurant and there chiefs and service staff are outstanding. The location is great with easy access to the Sky Train and Bus services, and an easy walk to the Sea Wall and Stanley Park.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is no need for a car in Vancouver, and you can now ride the Sky Train from the Airport to several locations downtown, so skip the car rental and expensive cab and ride the train downtown for $2.50 !

Return customer, guaranteed!

Anyone who stays in Vancouver, B.C. whether for the Olympics, on business or just passing through, will be fortunate to book a stay at Hotel Le Soleil. The Hotel exceeded our expectations. We were greatful that our room was ready for us hours before the usual check-in time. The room was five-star quality.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Cruise ship passengers ending or beginning their Alaska cruise will be glad that the Hotel Le Soleil is less than 5 blocks walk from the cruise ship terminal. The short walk with suitcases in tow was faster than a cab ride. Book your room months in advance if you can. We did, at a great room rate, on Expedia.com

Nice boutique hotel in middle of downtown Vancouver

Hotel was very nice. Room was a small suite with sitting area and separate bedroom, both with large LCD TVs. Location VERY convenient to Vancouver downtown and skytrain mass transit. Would use again on next trip if available.

Great Choice

We spent 3 days at the Le Soleil following a cruise. It was a great downtown hotel to use as a sightseeing base. The staff and the room were both great. We had one breakfast in the restaurant and it was fine. Highly recommended.

A perfect choice

I picked this hotel based on others comments and was extremely satisfied - we found it to be small, friendly, very well situated, Hotel Le Soliel has a classic design with beautifully appointed rooms. The location is ideal and close enough to walk most places. The staff were friendly and very helpful
