Comfortable hotel that needs updating and on-site management
This could be a great place to stay but the owners have not kept it up to date. We had an awesome view from our room but, as many of the other reviews mention about this hotel, the room ammenities are old. The carpet in our room had a one foot square patch in the carpet (hard to miss) and a deep cigarette burn. It’s also a little annoying that you have to go to the hotel down the hill to get your key if you arrive too late (we got there just after 5 pm). The room was clean and comfortable. It’s OK if you are planning on spending one evening and leaving the next morning as the rate is very competitive for the area.

Wonder View Inn & Suites- Bar Harbor ME - NOT impressed
When we arrived, we went to the lobby to register but no one there to register us. We found a note saying we needed to go to "Blue Nose" to check-in. No indication what "Blue Nose" was or any directions of where it was. We finally spotted a small sign with an arrow across the parking lot. It took the path (sort of a one-way drive around buildings and trees. I started walking and found that it was quite a distance. The Blue Nose was a fancy hotel and a little uppity. Once it was dark a number of guest were wondering around to find out what to do. There was really no help, except those of us that had arrived before dark. Our hotel room was out of the 50s and really needed an upgrade. It was clean, but bedspreads and curtains were frayed. The view was wonderful and fortunately we did not need any hotel services. I cannot recommend this place; however, an upgrade could make its location a charming place.
Traveler's tip on dining
We found an excellent dinning place by accident just off of Mt Desert Street near Main Street called "Cafe This Way". We had a wonderful dinner and came back for breakfast the next morning.

won’t go back
Check in. Romm smelled like cigarrettes. They gave me a second room which overlooked the pool and driveway even though i paid for a ocean view. Cancelled my stay and went to a sister property call the bluenose inn. It was excellent and i highly reccommend it.
