No Words For How Gross

All of the previous reviews that gave the Abasun a 1 overall, could have been written by myself. But in addition to the extremely inferior bedding and bathroom faculities no one has mentioned the "air conditioning". Our room faced south and would have been unbearably warm without the ac. However it was on a timer and turned off sometime in the early evening leaving no option other than opening the screenless windows which faced a major and busy street. The trams ran in both directions until 2:00am and then started back up at 5. In addition street cleaners went up and down all night and deliveries occurred early in the morning. They also required you to leave your key whenever you went out. The tv received one channel and we don’t remember any coffee pot or hair dryer. In addition the shower sink closet smelled of sewer gas or mildew.

One to write home about...

I know some reviewers don’t really care and will select 1’s for the heck of it - but this hotel (if you’d even call it that) really worked hard to deserve it’s ones. When we first checked in it took the desk attendent 15 minutes to get off the phone and check us in, and the hotel had no elevator and we had to drag three very large suitcases up two flights of stairs, when we got to the room there was maybe a foot and a half around the three twin beds we had - and the beds were all right next to eachother, not an inch of room inbetween, the bathroom door did not close let alone have a lock, it seemed that you would come out of the shower dirtier than you entered it, there were no pillow cases - they had a round pillow and rolled it into the bottom fitted sheet, I was curious as to whether or not they actually changed the sheets as when I pulled the covers back I found someone’s hair in it... overall it was AWFUL - thank goodness we only had to stay there one night to catch an early train. Be aware that there are other hotels just as close - do not make our mistake and think that this place "won’t be that bad"!!

Traveler's tip on dining

Eat at the restaurant St. Roche - it’s right by the church and is raved by locals as authentic French food, following some older recipes. Price was very reasonable as well - was a great overall experience!

Ghetto, but clean and friendly

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city. Don’t try and drive there because it’s like impossible to find and no parking. It is an extremely low budget hotel, but cheap. I dealt with three staff members all of whom were very helpful. It is poorly laid out and cheaply furnished, but if you just need to lay your head for the night, it’s ok.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

It’s cheap in comparison to most hotels especially with the dollar to euro rate being the way that it is.
