No Frills Good Location Parking Issues
Hotel Elegant is one of several hotels all along Rue Ste Hubert right inside the city. The location is great for accessing the Metro and the bus station is literally across the street. If you are looking for a very very low frills hotel, this isnt the worst out there. Make sure when you book this hotel to verify the taxes ARE included. Also, get ready to pay 8 CAD a day for parking. I suggest checking in early for the rear parking (very tight back there). The staff are helpful if you show some patience and are persistent. The rooms are small but clean, however the A/C is on the ceiling and is controlled by the staff, not you. We stayed in the summer and they shut the A/C off basically when they felt like it. Bathrooms are ok, only one small trash bin per room. Tiny TVs. The hotel view is nothing to write home about. All in all, not the worst but not the best (3 out of 10 rating).
Traveler's tip on dining
There are literally dozens of places to eat in the city near the hotel. Ste. Catherines is two blocks away and Rue St. Dennis has lots of outside dining.
