Great experience in Volcano Village
If you are visiting Volcano National Park, this is a great place to stay. Its really close to the Park. The owners are friendly, and the rooms are comfortable and the Village has good restaurants nearby. The climate is cooler than Kona so its great to get away from the crowds at the beaches. The only negative I have is that it is somewhat far from many of the Northern areas and from some of the beaches, but I would definitely return to this B&B.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you are planning to see as much of the Big Island as possible during your stay, it may be best to schedule several nights in each area of the island to prevent so much driving.

A Spare Room in a House- Not a B&B nor an Inn
The hosts were absent almost all of the time. The bed was a futon. The breakfast was cereal and fruit. The muli level bathroom was tricky with a hard to enter bathtub.

Lovely log house and excellent location
We wanted to stay in a lodge just like this for our honeymoon, and it was the best choice for it. We stayed in Orchid suite, which is the entirety of the 2nd floor of the house. It was totally worth spending just little bit more for the suite than for other rooms. The total house was in the excellent condition with great cleanness. It was in the beginning of April 08, so it was little bit chilly in the morning, but it warms up quickly for the rest of the day. It is about 40-45 min from Hilo, so the location is very easy to access other cities and attractions in the island. Excellent breakfast included with tropical flavor. The house owner was kind enough to do laundry for us at the end of our stay.
Traveler's tip on dining
There are no many restaurants available in Volcano city, but a Thai-thai restaurant there was excellent. But the lodge has a fridge to use, so you can save some leftover for next day lunch or something.
