Shabby hotel
Got room at lowest floor (1st). Big enough but comfortless. Extremely small bathroom (old style too). Bed was OK. Overpriced usually, but Ive got great rate at Expedia. Good for short overnight stay, not for vacations.

Far far away from Texas but would definitely go back. Also would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The Holiday Inn Old Sydney Rocks is in the perfect location. We were upgraded to the largest room on the top floor overlooking The Opera House and Circular Quay Harbor. It was beautiful, clean, quiet, and efficient. The rooftop pool and spa offer incredible views of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and area. It was fantastic!

Excellent hotel - great location!
Hotel personnel were extremely helpful providing travel information and setting up various tours of the Sydney area. This is a superb central location with easy access to ferries, trains, and busses. The Opera House and the Harbor Bridge are within easy walking distance as is the Central Business District (CBD).
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
The local ATMs have a better exchange rate than converting US dollars at the hotel. Buying a weekly City Rail pass (good for ferries, trains, monorails, and busses) will save you a bunch of bucks.

Great Location close to Opera House and Waterfront Amenities
The staff were fabulous and very friendly/helpful. The only hotel with a better location is the Hyatt in Old Sydney. The rooftop pool is a 3.5 foot deep pool, very small but with a fab view. The hot tub is not hot. The rooms and hotel furnishings/decor in general are crying out for refurbishment. Very tiny refrigerator. If youre just using the hotel as a base for sightseeing its great. But if you want some r&r and romance this is not the hotel for you.
Theres a very affordable pancake house outside the hotel, across street and to the left about 50 yards. Eating out in Sydney is very expensive so we had lunch at Starbucks

Wish I stayed longer
I thought the hotel was great except for some of the renovation that was going on at the time. Because of the renovation there were some supplies left in a couple of the halls and also an elevator out of service. The room was very clean and comfortable and the view from the roof was amazing!

Nice, clean hotel - but be wary of the view rooms
Really nice, clean hotel. Nice staff. Internet in the lobby and wireless. On our last night there, my friend and I were upgraded to the executive suite for free b/c they were out of the less expensive room wed booked, and the room had the softest sheets Ive ever felt on the bed - so nice. Also had black out shades on the window which was nice. My one complaint -- they advertise rooms with a view of the opera house and bridge (also from the rooftop pool area), but two out of three days that we were there a huge, ugly cruise ship was parked in the port, blocking the view of the opera house from both my room and the highly publicized rooftop pool. Since the cruise ship is there about half the week, they ought to warn folks. Save your money, because the rooms with the view of the rocks are totally cute (and less expensive). But other than that, it is a lovely hotel, very conveniently located (steps from the water) and clean.

Nice place, a bit over priced
Since it is right near the touristy area, I would say it is a bit over priced for what it is. Other than that, it is a great choice. Very friendly staff, great rooms, would very much recommend it.

Better than expected!!
Our room was very nice. Beautiful bathroom, nice furnishings, complimentary robes and slippers, etc. The view was unbelievable. Our window looked out onto the harbor and the Opera House. The rooftop pool is great, but the rooftop views are among the best in the city. The staff was also very helpful and the location of the hotel couldnt be any better. Easy walk to great food and fun. Circular Quay is a 5 minute walk and you can ferry/bus/train to anywhere you want.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Walk to Circular Quay and use the public transport. Its very resonably priced and easy to decipher the routes and such.

Front desk/concierge needs major training
The front desk staff act as concierge but have not idea on restaurant recommendations on booking harbour cruises referred me to brouchures stacked in reception. However the location is primo they just need to train their staff to work with clients and our requests.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The location is right on harbor and walking distance to great shops restaurants Opera House and botanical gardens

Great location, easy to walk to everything
Hotel was very comfortable, easy access to the CBD, Opera House and Sydney Bridge and Darling Harbour. The roof at night is not to be missed, view of bridge and Opera House. There was a Friday night event where the band in the open area was loud but over at 10:30pm. Also there is lots of hidden alleys that if you explore youll find little gems of stores or places to eat. Room itself was very clean, shower a little small but the rooms is for sleeping and resting the feet after a wonderful day of exploring.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Great to explore first the area and get a feeling of whats available. Have good walking shoes, CBD and areas are easy and not too many hills. If staying by the hotel, walk up and under the bridge. Not to miss the view during the day or night!
