WE LOVED IT
This was our 2nd visit to Velas Vallarta. We do not belong to a timeshare but couldn’t wait to go back. We were at a sister resort in 2007, and this same resort in 2008 and 2009. I can’t say enough good things about this resort. The staff was fantastic, they are attentive & very friendly. Gilberto does an excellent job serving you poolside, while Efren, the waiter at LaRibera restaurant was fantastic. Many others did a great job, I just don’t remember their names unfortunately. They all deserve high praise. I even like the people on the beach that sell things. It just gives it such a nice atmosphere. Food was good, drinks were good. The only thing, at this time of year with the rainy season, the ocean is muddy looking and not pretty. That is because the river flows into the ocean and mud washes down.
Traveler's tip
Do the canopy tours, they are SO MUCH FUN. They had a tequilla tasting afterwards. YUM There are jet skis right on the beach you can rent that is a lot of fun. I did not take the walking tour of Puerto Vallarta, but heard that it was very good. Once you go through customs, go past all the timeshare people. They are slick and try to get you to their counters, just walk past them and out the doors. If you have not arranged for transportation, cabs are waiting curbside, so not to worry.

Great resort
We really enjoyed our stay at Velas Vallarta-lots of fun activities-the view breathtaking of the ocean and balconies trimmed with beautiful flowers. We took advantage of all the hotel’s numerous amenities. The evening turndown service made us feel like royalty. We were well-taken care of. Food and Drinks "fantastic"and plentiful. We defintely plan to go back!

Spend time and visit downtown -the people were so genuine and friendly.

Loved it
One of the best all inclusives we’ve stayed at. Very well maintained. Loved the fact that not every meal was buffet. Can’t wait to go back.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Don’t do the dune buggies unless you want to spend the majority of time going through PV with traffic. Great Zip lines for those that like a little adventure.
