Baardshaug Herregard

The majestic manor house at Orkanger was the home of a man of the world, Christian Thams, architect, minister, landowner and consul. Christian Thams bought Baardhaug Herregaard in 1890, it was originally the parsonage at Orkanger. He rebuilt the house in different styles and he drew the plans for the main building himself. The result was a distinctive manor house and a unique sight in the area-then as today. Among his many guests were both kings and princes.
