Shanghai’s Chic Habitat
Arriving at the Sofitel, after a long flight, was nirvana! A lobby with understated elegance and a dollop of chic!gushing wafts of clean fresh air, coming from a garden of fresh flowers! My fatigue dissolved like ice cream in a microwave! Very well trained staff having the right combination of care, knowledge and understanding. Specially impressed with their English communication skills, a rarity in China! The rooms were clean and well designed. Comfortable bed, and, a well lit bathroom with extravagant amenities. Superb location from where you can plan all your forays into the dynamic city of Shanghai. The only thing lacking was a dearth of signs to signify the plethora of ways to the outside world. Overall a classy, stimulating and comfortable Hotel Highly recommended to all my fellow travelers to Shanghai!!
Traveler's tip on nightlife
A trip to the Bund is a must. Go there at 1845 so that you can see the Bund light up at 1900. A spectacular sight! A 20 minute walk from the Hotel. Dinner at the Xin Tian Di is a must. You can choose from a large variety of Cuisines. A drink at the DR Bar is a must.Minimalistic decor and a romantic candle lit interior with friendly hosts! Cheers !

Great Location, Excellent service
This is located right on the pedestrian walk and only a few minutes to the subway. It’s touristy, but convenient. I had the view of the square next to the building which was holding a concert, I couldn’t hear a thing, very quiet. The room is very clean, robes are soft and fluffy, slippers are comfortable, it was a great place to crash and relax after 3 weeks of travel in China (including hard class on 4 over-night trains!)

They give you two bottles of water a day since you can’t drink out of the tap.
