Convenience
The rooms in the park are pretty well worn and, primitive (e.g., no phone or TV in our room, no cell phone service in the park so forget about keeping up with the outside world), but clean, and it beats the 45 minute - 1 hour drive from Durango or Cortez. The room was heated with a noisy wall heater. Best to turn up the heat while you’re gone, then turn it off when you get back. The restaurant at Far View was outstanding, offering a variety of unique southwestern dishes.

Would recommend
National Park setting with deer grazing right outside the door. Beautiful sunsets. Minimal room reflective of the NP setting -- nature is the attraction. Bring a book for the evenings after dark.
Cell phone usage is sketchy so don’t rely on it.

Only choice - but good
If youre going to mesa verde, this is the place to stay! The rooms are nice, no aircon in the cheaper rooms, but its cold at night even in middle august. The restaurant was very nice, worth the extra expense.
