Nice, but claustrophobic and fussy
Many people might love the dark Victorian decor of this hotel, but I found it somewhat oppressive. It’s an old hotel, the service is good, the bathrooms functional, clean, but unspectacular. A good hotel, but not the gem I hoped it might be.

Strater hotel is charming but lacks creature comfort
Great location and interesting decoration. Room and bed were comfortable and each room is docorated differently bu that is where the charm ends. The included continental breakfast is nothing special and the bathrooms were the smallest I have seen. Water pressure in the shower is so weak that you need to run around to get wet but there is no room to do so. Air conditioning system is inadequate. Will not stay there again as the charm of the room decoration and location does not make up for the shortcomings

Great Character Hotel
The rooms are small, but very nicely furnished. Not a "fancy" hotel, but the rooms are clean, comfortable, the service is excellent and friendly, and you just can’t beat the location! We will definitely stay here again when visiting Durango...
