Forget it

The internet service in the room or ion the business center was a joke. Slow and slower was the mode. Dial up modems were faster. Hotel was at a loss of why it was so slow, but did offer to refund the charge for the wi fi in the room. Hotel is way to big and had only one restaurant to serve people in over 300 rooms. Smoking in the restaurant was allowed and this made it even worst. Have a hard time recommending this hotel.

Might Be the Best Value in Vienna

The Imperial Riding School Hotel is a superb place to stay. Great location - right by the Belvedere - close enough to the center for easy access but far enough away to be very quiet. Very comfortable, very courteous, helpful staff. Amazing breakfast buffet. Can’t wait to stay there again.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The train line from the airport stops right at the hotel (Rennweg station). That’s the S-bahn, not the CAT express train to the city center. Save yourself a 30 Euro cab ride - $43 US! The S-bahn costs 3.60 Euro - about $5 US. It’s also very easy to find at the Vienna airport.

Comfort and Convient

The hotel is right next to the Rennweg train station yet very quiet. Friendly attentive staff that gave us great directions to all of the places that we wanted to go to in and out of Vienna. Close to tram into Vienna. Right next to trains that can also take you into Vienna and all other locations. Train to and from the airport as well. Close to the University run Botanical gardens as well as other less traveled locations. Large enclosed lawn area for sunbathing, small indoor pool and fitness room with machines and dumbbells, sauna, steam rooms. Nice restaurant with an interesting option some nights of a do it yourself barbecue. The breakfast has many choices for all tastes including made to order omlettes. They have a self serve espresso machine if you need an early morning jolt before breakfast. They also have a table set up for joggers with free bottled water, maps on lanyards and towels. Some people may miss the excitement of the city circle, but I think this is a good location, especially if you are going to be there more than a couple of days. We’d definitely go back.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The tap water is certainly healthy, but for day long sight seeing, especially in summer you’ll want to take some along with you. If you are going to see the museums look for combined ticket deals like the Leopold and History Museum. Small stores tend to close early while bigger more well known stores might be open later. Don’t bother with taxis. Use public transportation. It is convenient to most everything.
