Indian owned?

the staff are quite slow. they would say " yeah, yeah, yeah" without understanding what you were really asking. in addition, they always forgot to give us the free bottle of water for each day. there is only on restaurant over there. an Indian restaurant. It does not taste good plus the service is slow, again. but, anyway, the location is not bad

good hotel - winner for us: South Indian chef and vegetarian food

We had booked two rooms (3 adults per room) as we were a group of six + 1 15 month baby. Rooms were decent & clean. Breakfast was VERY basic (us being vegetarians), but then discovered a chef from South India who then made us dosas and a full-fledged south indian meal the next day. Needless to say, our parents were thrilled! The location seems ok. about 20 min from the main temples & attractions. We booked guide and van with driver through the hotel - seemed slightly pricey but they were good.

Good position of hotel

Before my wife and I arrived to our hotel, I managed our complementary airport shuttle and hotel person was waiting for us. As soon we arrived we started exploring area and found out that downtown was quite close, just by passing bridge as well one of their nicest temple (Wat Preah Prom Rath), as well Old market, and other interesting places, such as National museum. To reach Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, we used tuk-tuk (after we bargained acceptable price for whole-day service). After returning to hotel, next morning we enjoyed breakfast at the top of hotel (6th floor) where we had a nice overview of Siem Reap. The only objection we had was related to restaurants old menus having some food no more available for ordering. Generally, we are satisfied with hotel and cheerful staff and would warmly recommend it to all who want to visit Siem Reap and experience Kmer heritage - Angkor Wat.

Siem Reap is place where one must bargain in order to get a good deals, especially when locals recognize you as a stranger/tourist when they increase there prices. If you are not satisfied with offered deal, just walk away and for sure you will find a new deals. The only thing we found a bit annoying is being harassed by local sellers (mostly kids) as Angkor Wat/Thom area. Best way to avoid a good deal of it is to ignore them.

Ok Hotel at an OK price

This Hotel is not bad. Free WIFI in the room. Clean rooms, with no view at all. Small toilets but clean ones, low pressure in the bedroom shower. Friendly staff. 5 min by motorbike taxi to Old Market Area. Breakfast so so, one plain omelet with a strip of bacon. Can be better. Cambodia es not as cheap as it could and should be, as a tourist you are always paying in dollars.

Don’t understand all the hype

We recently stayed at this hotel and honestly, I don’t understand all the hype. It was very inexpensive, so good value for money, but in a country as inexpensive as Cambodia, I cannot believe that there aren’t better options. I would have preferred to pay a bit more and get a bit more.

A nice little hotel

I stayed here in April (low season) and the hotel like most of the area was pretty empty. Everyone was friendly. Room was clean and the a/c worked great (a necessity). The rooftop restauraunt was very good with great indian food. Internet access available on lobby PCs or wireless in the lobby.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Ankgor Wat, night market, and pub street are close. The moto driver who brought me from the airport was the only transport I used- make sure you get a safe driver.

Convenient and rather nice

Actually, my friend and I were pleased with the hotel in general--it was convenient (a short tuk-tuk ride to the restaurants and markets) and transportation was readily available. Air conditioner, shower. beds were good. The free internet in the lobby was nice. The staff was friendly, but a bit vague. The only problem we had was at the end when we started getting "nickel and dimed." Things that were free the first night weren’t free the second (like a bottle of water. The free breakfast was coffee and one pancake (actually it was a good large pancake) with any other food charged. The shuttle from the airport was free, but back to the airport wasn’t. Nothing awful, but irritating. There is no nice view, so we kept the curtains closed (also b/c of the heat), but that was ok.

Excellent Option for Siem Reap Hotel

Stayed at the hotel for four nights. We found it to be a great location and a very comfortable hotel along a quiet side street. The free internet was a big plus. American breakfasts were good, but we would have preferred a choice of Asian breakfast instead. There were a few minor housekeeping and maintenance glitches, but overall, I would recommend the hotel.

This is a great place to stay in Siem Reap

When I was looking for a hotel to stay for my recent short trip to Siem Reap I reviewed a lot of the larger, more touristic hotels in town, but was not happy with the overall value for money, nor was I prepared to pay all that money and be located on the edge of town. I wanted something mid range, mid town and good quality. The Claremont Angkor Hotel fitted my bill admirably, combining excellent service, good hotel organization and a comfortable and spacious room with a surprizingly low and competetive room rate (probably the best in town for a hotel of this standard). I am not allowed to say how much this hotel cost, but rest assured that it was extremely good value, and it included a complimentary airport pickup and breakfast on the rooftop balcony. I was very happy with my Claremont Angkor Hotel experiences, and would recommend this place to anyone who is not addicted to 5-star hotels.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Obviously the Angkor Wat complex is the big draw to staying in Siem Reap, but a visit would not be complete without some time spent in the central market, and along Pub Street, especially at night. Walking down the Siem Reap river early in the morning is also not to be missed.

Siem Reap’s Finest!!

What a gem!! I booked at the Claremont Angkor on the recommendation of a trusted friend. It was so good I stayed a week. The rooms are spacious, airconditioned and clean. The water is hot and there is a bath - unusual for Cambodia. The staff are extremely helpful and professional. The staff and owners are extremely perceptive to the individual needs of their guests; booking transport and offering advice to maximize the stay was excellent. The rooftop restaurant is exceptional. Breakfast was wonderful. My daily omlette was cooked to perfection and accompanied with fresh fruit. The Indian restaurant must be one of Siem Reap’s best kept secrets. I ate there every night. They have both Indian and Khmer chefs and I saw several guests eating steaks and Western food. The owner ensured my particular dietary requirements (gluten free) were more than adequately catered for.The Indian food is exceptional. I have lived and worked in Cambodia for 3 years, visiting most provinces and the Claremont Angkor is truely one of the best value for money hotels in which I have stayed. Outstanding!!

Traveler's tip

Book through Expedia and do not be "conned" by unscrupulous taxi and tuk tuk drivers who desperately try to divert tourists to other hotels. Their so-called "cousins" merely offer the drivers kick backs and commissions. Stay true to your booking! Also use your hotel staff to book reliable transport and tours. Too many others are out to rip off tourists. The professional staff at Claremont Angkor are excellent examples who provide great reliable assistance.

Good stay and value

Hotel staff were friendly, and for the price of the room the overall experience exceeded expectations. Restaraunt on top floor was very good and has a good view. Hotel is a little out of the way, but Siem Reap is relatively small, so not a major inconvenience at all. We were there during Holiday season and the hotel was decorated nicely, and the staff seemed to be quite in the spirit. Appreciated the internet access and computers in the main lobby as we chose not to carry a laptop on the trip.

Claremont Angkor Hotel - a very good located hotel

The hotel is just near the Siem Reap river, with very amazing views. The hotel location is excellent and the price is also quite good. The overall is ok but with some room facilities not working properly. e.g. the aircon was not cooling at the first room, and then the sink was not working at the second. Also cockroach was always trying to catch us during our stay but terminated, and after that unfortunately ants came...

Good Value

Claremont provided large clean rooms for a great price. Staff was very friendly and location was excellent. Only complaint was that our room was below the restaurant and as a result we were woken by set-up noises at 5:30a each morning.

Comfortable Hotel on a Quiet Street

Good service, comfortable hotel on a quiet street within walking distance to the Old Market.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There are a large number of guest houses around this hotel that are a third of the costs that don’t advertise online that also provide a clean room, cable TV and AC for those comfortable enough to arrive in Siem Reap without a hotel.

A little treasure

The good value, the great staff who were helpful and friendly and the excellent Indian restaurant make this hotel well worth a visit. Even if you don’t stay here, don’t miss an evening meal at the restaurant. I am a food critic and a chef, and they managed to impress me.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Hire a guide. You will get much more out of your temple travels and for $25 a day it is well worth it. Our guide was a woman named Thyda that was excellent. Women guides are rare, so she tried a little harder and left a great impression on us. Ask for her at the hotel.

A little spacey

First off, the hotel failed to pick us up at the airport as planned. No biggie. The airport has a great cab system and we ended up saving $. The rooms are fine. We actually had to walk about with the desk clerk through 4 rooms because 1st, they gave us a queen bed instead of the 2 doubles requested. Then, the next room faced a construction site. Then, the next had not been made up, The final one was fine. Housekeeping is a bit spacey: we returned one day to find all the towels gone. We had to go down to reception to request some and got 2 damp bath towels. We never saw our hand towels again. Biggest disappointment is the restaurant, where we got our free breakfasts. The manager knows nothing about marketing strategies. For breakfast, you are allowed two eggs, OR 1 pancake OR 2 slices of French toast (the wonder bread variety.) And in a country where fruit is ubiquitous, cheap and delicious, every morning, we got one sliver of dessicated pineapple and a tiny piece of watermelon. Compared to hotels in Vietnam which lavished breakfasts on us and left a great impression, this place was remarkable for its unnecessarily stingy rationing. We skipped the last day in lieu of better street vendor food, and we never once entertained the notion of having lunch or dinner there because of their poor showing. I’ve never seen such bad management choices.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Cambodia has revived through tourism. The pluses are they make it very convenient for travelers by accepting all foreign currencies. Downside is hotels, taxi drivers &guides keep trying to talk you into tourist traps ike buffet dinners with traditional dancing, the Boat village (which is fine, but it’s expensive entry, and if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all). Say no and insist on real local experiences as we did.

Good Location near River

Well stocked grocery/beer/wine store 1/2 block down street. Good nearby restaurants. I was not impressed by the Indian restaurants on the hotel top floor. Be careful to make sure you open the bottled water cap at your table and not someone else in the back unless you like to live dangerously. Hotel staff helpful and friendly. Tours easily arranged. Internet service in lobby worked 50% of time and wireless in room about 25%.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

You can hire a taxi to take you to Angkor Wat and other attractions for $30 US/day. Much cheaper than organized tours and more customizable.

Cheap Comfort in Cambodia

This new little hotel has it all:comfort, cost effectiveness and cleanliness. It’s all about location, right in the heart of Siem Reap, close to the markets and Pub St, while still being far enough away from the action for peace and quiet. It has spacious and comfortable rooms with a refreshing pool area, offering a welcome escape from the heat. The best bit though is the delicious cooked breakfast, eaten on the rooftop restaurant. You can work off the calories either sightseeing or in the roof top gym. The nights on the rooftop are magical also and the Indian food is great for the nights you are too exhausted to leave. Friendly, helpful staff and owners always make the stay more pleasant.Unbelievable value for money!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The markets are a must see, the sights and smells are mind boggling! Owners are always willing to help you organise transport. The floating village is also unique and another must see.
