A very nice hotel
The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. Irene at the front desk was a pleasure to deal with and was always smiling and friendly. Hi, Irene. The studio apt. was well appointed and comfortable with a spacious bathroom. The bed was comfortable and there was no outside noise. The layout of the apt. leaves a lot to be desired. To watch TV it was necessary to sit at the small uncomfortable kitchen chairs. The TV was directly above the sofa. But who goes to Florence to watch TV anyway! Although the hotel is away from the center of Florence it is an easy 15 to 20 min bus ride to get to the main historical district. One word of advice - do not purchase the 20 ride bus ticket at a cost of 20 Euros. Sometimes they work but most of the time they don’t work .Buy the 4 trip tickets and save yourself a lot of grief. I tried to get a refund on my faulty 20 trip ticket but was told that refunds are only available if your are an Italian citizen. Even the official at the bus terminal that I talked to advised that the 20 trip ticket should not be bought. The supermarket that is virtually next door to the hotel is very convenient and there are several restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. A self service laundry (quite expensive) and an internet cafe are within a block of the hotel. Florence is a wonderful city with an abundance of fascinating historical museums, churches, homes, plazas etc. I would not hesitate to return to the Quadra Key.
October weather in Florence was fantastic and the crowds were not bad at all.

A little lacking for a 4-star rating.
Comfort was not a priority with the owners. The tiny sofa could have used an end table in the corner with a lamp bright enough for reading. A bright light in the center of the cieling was in the wrong place for everybody to read by. Amenities listed were a coffee maker and an iron - not in room! A small (with moldy interior) expresso maker was. I called the desk and they had a 12-cup coffee maker available for a 20 euro deposit. I did not want to deal with having 20 extra euro as I left for the airport. This was my first experience with a hotel wanting a deposit for their coffee maker or iron. The desk personnel were pleasant and tried to be helpful. The location was good.
Tourists should be prepared for rapidly rising prices: I used a 2008 Travel Guide for planning and was surpised to find ticket prices doubled from 3 to 6 euro in one Duomo and from 8 to 12 euro (about $40 for 2 persons) in the Pitti Palace Museum. A light lunch can easily cost 20 to $30 in the average rreatuarant or sidewak cafe. Bring lots of money to Italy.

Nice Hotel
My first impression was that the website made it look much more glamorous than it actually is. After we settled in we were very happy with our accomodations. We were very comfortable in our room. It was very clean and functional. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It is convenient as far as catching a bus right out front and a market right down the street. The only reason I would not reccomend this Hotel that it is not close to the areas we came to see. It is closer to the airport than the train station and to Duomo area. I wish I had known that when I booked it.
Fly into Rome and take the train to Florence. The airport in Florence is small and there are no direct flights into Florence from the USA.
