Great location for Place des Arts

Wonderful hotel. Staff was friendly throughout our stay. If you have tickets to the Place des Arts for an event or plan on attending the Montreeal Jazz Festival this is the place to stay. You can walk to Place des Arts without going outside. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

greathotel

Hyatt hotels in general are excellent, but this one was one of the best I’ve stayed in. Walking distance to most things you’d want to see. Clean, comfortable and great service...

Good location

This hotel was within walking distance to Old Montreal, Cresent St., and the Latin Quarter (a longer walk). The staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Very normal.

I think that it is relatively the less sophisticated one among their hotels. I expected it more than it was.

ok

The location of the hotel is great. It is within walking distance of many attractions. My only complaint is that internet is an additional charge, even in the business center there is a charge for checking email.

Not impressed

The hotel front desk staff were very helpful. However, when we arrived we were wanting to get our plans together for what we could do in Montreal. The front desk personnel told us that the hotel did not have a concierge. They advised us that they could help us with anything that we needed. Unfortunately, every time we neeeded assistance, we were waiting in a line at the front desk behind other’s that were checking in. We finally gave up on trying to get help. We were given a smoke free room on a smoke free floor. At 1 AM I woke up to a very strong smell of smoke. This smell lasted all night. The next morning, the front desk personnel were helpful, but very limited on anything that they could do to change anything. Lastly, at 3 AM I heard a loud commotion in the hall. I thought a group of drunks were heading in from a night out. I opened the room door and hotel personnel were working/removing items from a closet talking in a very loud discussion. I couldn’t believe it. Surely there are hotels in Montreal with better service.

Excellent Hotel Location

The location, service, and room were great but I was expecting a bigger room for the price we paid. Breakfast buffet is great and children do not pay.

Hyatt Regency

The public areas of the hotel are upscale and warm with lots of dark wood. The bar off the main lobby is epic! Getting from the street to the lobby requires a 4 floor elevator ride, but the two elevators assigned to this task are quite slow. My room was nice but not as posh as the lobby. The window was dirty and could not be opened, not even a crack! The thermostat was not very helpful to warm up the room; I only felt heat in the room when it was set ridiculously high (30C).

Traveler's tip

If you’re staying for a few days, learn how to enter & exit the Hyatt through the attached shopping complex. Look for the bank of elevators between the bar & gift shop. You’re starting on the 6th floor - take the elevator down to the 3rd floor. Stick to the right & walk directly through the mall to exit on the street. This helps during business hours only, but it’s a handy shortcut depending on where you’re headed in the city.

Awesome Place to Stay

My friends and I stayed here for New Years Eve and it was great. They had taxi’s lined up outside ready to go and you could call in advance to be sure there would be one ready. They also helped us plan our few days with bus trips, and/or other activities. They could all speak very good English, which was a plus. The people at the front desk were always available and always ready to answer questions that we had. I would stay at this hotel again and I would recommend it to anyone. A++

Not bad; No consierge on holiday weekend

Room were nice. Front desk slow to pick up phone. No concierge and no phone books in rooms to look things up. Was told this is a Hyatt policy. Pool was great for family fun. No restaurant for dinner, but tapas at the lounge. One dish had the worst old bread I was ever served. Breakfast was very good.

very comfortable

Great hotel for having a place to retreat to after a full day of work. Amenities and staff are great. Hotel was under strike while I was there, but the staff tried their best to make it easy to deal with.

Great location and price

We had a great stay at the Hyatt regardless of the hotel staff being on strike. The managers working were all extremely pleasant and accomodating. The hotel location is excellent - close to everything. Take advantage of visiting the underground shops and exploring this "city" has to offer.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Montreal is a great walking city and don’t miss one of the many free festivals in the summer. If you get a chance take a tour of Quebec - great old world charm.

staff demonstration!

The hotel was nice enough, but the hotel workers went on strike while I was at the hotels. Rooms went uncleaned and the management staff was a bit overwhelmed. It was less than ideal.

Most convenient hotel in Montreal

Staying at the Hyatt was wonderful, because it was convenient and accessible to new and old Montreal. We were a block away from the train station that took us to the Botanic Gardens and the Biodome. We were right on St. Catherine and above the Underground mall with easy access to shopping. And the best part was the restaurant next to the hotel, Eggspectation. It was fabulous! I wish I could bring it back to the states! My only complaints: (1) the concierge was not helpful, so I’m glad I brought my own guidebook and plan of action. (2) The exchange rate was high for the U.S. dollar. Leave the hotel to exchange cash! Other than that, I loved it!

Traveler's tip on dining

You MUST, MUST, MUST eat at Eggspectation one time before you go. The Yoke Around the Clock is too die for!

Easy Access to Points of Interest

The location of the hotel is a plus. For one thing, there is a mall connected to the hotel. It made everything easy for emergencies (i.e. grocery, pharmacy, etc). Another advantage is the easy access to several points of interests (i.e. museums, Underground City, Chinatown, etc). The hotel employees were all friendly and very accommodating. Excellent choice.
