Not impressed
When I told my instructor that I live in the Culloden Hotel he replied "wow, this hotel is luxurious, one of the best in Belfast!".. If hes right, then Belfast needs a 6-stars hotel to be like the 5-stars hotels worldwide. Pros: +Comforting atmosphere (I went in December, where winter and santa decorations play role in making it a warm place). +"Responsive" staff. (It depends whether you want proactive or youre better off with the responsive). +Free fitness area and swimming pool (usually you have to pay more in other hotels). +Spa available (not for free of course!). +One thing I liked is the delicious biscuits :) Theyre refillable daily and for free. +The train station is behind the hotel. I didnt use it because my stay was just for a week, and I didnt have time to understand its path (refer to cons!). +I asked for nail clipper and they brought one. :) Cons: -You have nothing around. Closest place is a gas station I go to if I want something from the grocery store. Its less than mile far. Walkable. -My first request was a map for the city to know where I am... IT shocked me that theres no map for Belfast includes the hotels area! (I collected 4 different maps). The hotel staff seem to have this request for the first time, this might indicate less intl tourists. -The restaurant is overpriced compared with the quality. -The safe box is closed, and I asked them to open it but nothing happened. -They missed refilling the biscuits twice :( ---it was my breakfast!
Traveler's tip on shopping
1-In December they have "Christmas Market" in the city center. 2-Dont use individual cabs (taxi). They tend to be less professional (two Belfasters told me that theyre trouble-makers). "Value Cabs" is famous, keep their number: 028-90809080. 3-Taxis begin their meter with 3 pounds. If you ordered one then canceled, you have to pay 3 pounds. 4-Make sure before picking the hotel that its nearby your interests.
