our room was new and updated but our friend’s room was a little outdated
the hotel is neat. the rooftop pool is great too. we ate at the peruvian restaurant inside and it was okay. the free breakfast was a complete disaster. i wouldnt count on eating breakfast there unless you want to wait a really long time and don’t want any service. we booked 2 rooms. they were a little different. our room was newly furnished: new tile, bathroom, linens, very pretty. our friend’s room next door was 15 years old in its decor. other than that, you are right where the action is...

One of the Best in Cartagena Colombia
Capilla Del Mar is ****1/2 Star hotel. I was here in January 2009 and end of June 2009. Both times I loved it. Very secure. The staff is excellent. Service is great. Price is good. Great view of the beach with balconies and bathrooms have BIG tubs. Internet and safe is included. Air conditioner works great. Location of Hotel is fantastic for all activities safe and secure. The pool on the roof is great and the breakfast buffet is excellent. The outside restaurant has great cooking meats and is fun and they have dancing and singing on the weekend. You cannot go wrong with this hotel!!! I recommend it!
Traveler's tip
Best Carribean seafood restaurants home style way. I do not suggest you go to Cartagena without somebody who speaks spanish. Beach hard to recommend since it is full of people selling you trinkets but safe. Not clear waters but sunny! If you buy some trinket and you did not negotiate the price down at least 30% you paid too much! Check out the old city, the fort/castle and cobblestone streets. Take cab rides everywhere, most expensive ride is to airport about $10 dollars.

The location is good, but we prefer something closer to the old city.
