Good facility but bad surroundings and worse food
The location is not so bad but there is nothing to see or do in the area. It is mainly a poorer section of Taiwan with only small family run shops and food stalls none of which I would care to eat in. The food at the hotel is bad but let me clarify this...there is a buffet restaurant and a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor (Catonese)...the Chinese restaurant was good, I’ve had better but for the money it was good food. The buffet should be avoided in any case. The breakfast buffet was barely adequate as far as food choices but the Western food was runny scrambled eggs (fake I think), the bacon was cold, and they had little additional selection. There were fruit flies flying all over the juice bar (2 selections) and these same fruit flies were regularly found at the table (they loved to take swims in my drink). After only 2 breakfasts we switched to buying at the next door AM/PM market (much better). I never tried the lunch but the dinner buffet was a disaster. bad taste, cold food (when it should have been hot), everything totally overcooked and small portions in the serving dishes. Many of the nights there were only a few people taking dinner. Only when the tour buses came in that they had any business. I had read about the tour buses in reviews before the trip and indeed all these extra people was a disadvantage at times. As for me...next time I’ll try closer to the city center.

Wonderful experience in cozy hotel just a few miles outside of Taipei City.
I was first hesitant at booking this hotel because it was located outside of Taipei City so I was worried about commuting via MRT. However, when I arrived, the hotel had a courtesy shuttle that operated all day! Also, there is a bus (route 912) that drops you off right infront of the MRT as well as within walking distance of Taipei 101 and many tourist sites! I stayed for 4 nights - the room was very clean w/a great view of the mountains. The people were very kind - kind to the extent that they sent a plate of fresh fruit to my room because I had a bit of a tummy ache from the plane ride in. I am very impressed with the cozy and quiet location; as well as the kind and courteous hotel service. I will most defintely stay at this hotel the next time I go to Taipei!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
This hotel is not as pricey compared to other big shot hotels in the city. This hotel offers you an easy commute into the city straight to either the Taipei 101 which is in walking distance to the Taipei WTC; as well as the Taipei City Hall MRT (subway). This hotel is just 3.3 miles outside of the noisey city, it has a beautiful view, a kind service staff, and modern cozy room. If you want to save some money and get the most of our your trip - I reccommend staying here - no joke!
