Beware the bathroom door
Our stay was lovely, the service was impeccable, the room was perfect, everything was amazing! However, I longed for complete privacy when I was in the bathroom. The bathroom door has a slightly frosted decorative glass pane where one can see through. It made us laugh and we immediately set ground rules for bathroom usage and it was no problem. We loved this hotel and their staff. I usually dont spend time writing reviews, but we loved our stay there and were treated like royalty!

excellent hotel with unusual location
Great hotel but close to highway and near other lesser hotels. Only has one elevator so when it is broken you are out of luck.. On the positive side it is very luxurious, high tech, and would stay here again.

Great Tuscan country style hotel
Very nice, upscale but reasonably priced. Quiet and attractive, excellent restaurant & bar with wine list of well-selected local wines by the glass. A local favorite for special events. Great attentive service. Spacious rooms/suites (but with that funky bathtub in the middle of the room-- whose dumb idea was that?) Separate refrigerator and mini-bar, 2 TVs, bedroom can be closed off. Overall a great place to stay, eat and drink.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Located at the junction of Hwy 101 and 46, 30 minutes to the Pacific coast on one of the most beautiful drives in California through Hearst Ranch cattle country. One hour to Hearst Castle, 50 minutes to Moonstone Beach & fantastic restaurants in Cambria-- try Hamlet restaurant across from Moonstone Drive, or Cambria Pines Inns restaurant. (Brambles restaurant recently changed hands, wait until it gets sorted out.) Beware CHP radar speed traps on Hwy 1 near SLO.
