This Hotel Is a Sham
Extremely disapointed. sent to another hotel because their electricity was apparently "out" in only the room we were to stay in. As an electrician, I find this an unlikely scenario. Sent to a "4 star hotel" (supposedly) which turned out to days inn" quality. It was called "Central Park" hotel. Id give it 1.5 stars. Be careful booking this hotel through Expedia because they (The Royal Eagle and Central Park) may have an over-booking "sham" going on.
Make sure your cell phone will work there.

Okay if you are just looking for a place to sleep
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was acceptably clean. Door had bad lock...so maid service left it unclocked a couple of times. The room was small...as well as the bath facilities. Hadnt noticed that there was no A/C when making reservation. Room was extremely warm except in the middle of the night with the window open. Then picked up street noise all night. Room was supposed to have a phone but didnt. So wake up calls were a real challenge. Had a couple of false fire alarms. Bottom line...if you are looking for a place to rest and change clothes...and it is not the "middle" of summer...this is an acceptable venue as it is within three blocks of Paddington station and the Tube.
Traveler's tip on dining
As most travel books with tell you...pubs are the best value for eating...even your average dining facility can get expensive if you dont watch what you order and pay attention to the money conversion factor.
