Absolutely recommend and can’t wait to go back!
The Royal Catalonia exceeded ALL of our expectations from the reviews and the photos we read. It is beautiful! The beach, the grounds, the pools, the spa, the restaurants, the bars, the casino, the food (yum!). And the service was excellent; knowing spanish is helpful, but we didn’t and everything went well. The room was one of the best in the Caribbean; the bed was very firm but we adjusted after the first night. My husband and I cannot wait to book another trip there.

This was a great time to go; the place was not crowded and the weather perfect. Go to the beach and revel in nature’s beauty. The water is crystal clear and warm. The chairs are very comfortable; don’t worry about being topless. Most did.

Great quality and comfort for the price
We had a great experience at Catalonia Royal Bavaro. The food, the rooms, the staff, everything was great. It only loses a star off the review because of a few annoyances. First, the pools close at 6 p.m., and we often wanted to go for a dip much later. Also, the staff, who was generally great, took too long to respond when we had problems in the room. Our air conditioning wasn’t working, and then the room safe broke, and both issues took far too long to deal with. But I’d go back, and I recommend it to others, especially couples.

FYI -- the resort’s nightclub doesn’t open until 11 p.m., when I was ready to go to bed.

The food at the restaurants and the bar at the beach super great!!!
Check in was fast. The air conditioner in the first room we received did not work. Wasted time changing rooms. Second room #3627 was great, but still air not quite as cold as it should be. The room was so humid, that they had to provide a dehumidifier. The bucket in the dehumidifier would fill up every 2 -3 hours. If we did not dump the water, the dehumidifier would shot down and the room would become extremely humid and musty. The beach was OK, not the best we have been in the Dominican Republic. The Royal side is very relaxing (we loved this part of the vacation). As per my request, a representative from Expedia contacted the resort and asked if they had adult movie channel and they confirmed that they did, as this was an adult only resort. No such thing when we arrived.

The staff and managers at all the restaurants were absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious. All the workers at the Catalonia Royal were very polite and helpful (very nice people).
