Fair, Could’ve been better

This was our first trip to Mexico and I was expecting a little more luxury. The resort needs a facelift The food was fair, with the exception of the Seaside Grill, which was excellent. The pool was small. The entertainment staff was great and friendly. The rooms were nothing to brag about, a bit run-down. We even upgraded our room and I was still not impressed. If you are a drinker be prepared to ask for extra shots in whatever you are drinking. They were so weak and watery even if you were tipping, which we did. Finally found Miguel and he hooked us up. Try the Thai restaurant at the mall. It was beautiful and romantic. Nice trip but next time I want to stay at a more luxurious resort!

Skip the greeters at the airport. They want to sell you stuff and want tips for carrying your bags. Carry your own bags!

Dissapointed but had fun

There was a terrible storm and our room was leaking from the balcany above. It was absolutely beautiful adn clean but the staff was not as nice as the last time I was there. After requesting a new room, the front desk gave us the wrong key and we walked in on a couple! The front desk merely laughed it off.

Great Location

The location of this hotel was excellent. Surrounded by crystal clear water. Went with family including 2 kids 6 and 8. They have a great Kids Explorer club with great staff, thank you so much to Lotte and Lilly for making my kids so comfortable. They have great entertainment staff especially Zairy and Rita who made our stay fun. The only negatives was the shower was set up poorly causing water to splash all over the place when you used it, no bath tub. Also there was so much moisture in the room that the floor always seemed to be wet and the paper in the room damp. Also don’t pay for the wireless internet it sucks. Constantly disconnects and loses network connection.

worst place I have ever stayed

Our room was very dated (no luxury) asked for a crib upon check in and never got it until after the nightmare 4 nights later!! Everytime it rained water ran in under our balcony door no big deal put down a towel, our tv wouldn’t work and it took 3 hrs and 2 phone calls for someone to come and look at it. We went to dinner that night and when we returned water was coming in from the hallway door too. I called and told them and they offer to send a housekeeper, we were traveling with a 2 yr old and a 8 yr old this was 10:30 at night I told them no and put down more towels. In the morning when I stepped out of bed I was standing in water not only was in coming in both doors but leaking though the ceiling like it was raining (this wasn’t just an issue of bad weather the ceiling had leaked for so long that the marbel floor under the stained ceiling were discolored where it rained in the room). Called and asked for a manager he offered a new room and I told him it better be very nice for me to have to pack everything for 4 people unpack it and pack it again 2 nights later, the new room was a dated but nice 2 floor suite (dry) once we unpacked there we went to breakfast and came back and the area rug on the floor was lifted on the corner didn’t notice it before we left (and the crib was brought) under the corner of the rug was a used tampon!!!

Better than I expected!!!

This is a beautiful resort. The food is awesome and the drinks are great as well. The drinks are a little weak; however, you can order as many as you want without additional costs. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We arrived at the resort around noon and check in was a breeze. We were met at the front of the resort by the valet, and not only did he park the car for us but he gave us a tour of the resort and carried our luggage to our room. The snorkeling in the resort’s beaches is awesome and the snorkeling gear can be borrowed for no additional cost. I’ve been to several beaches on the East Coast of the U.S.A, but I never seen a beach as beautiful as the ones on the Caribbean Sea! I recommend staying in the “Preferred Club” section as the small perks such as your own concierge etc is well worth it. I cannot wait to go back to Dreams Resort Cancun!

I would recomend exchanging money into Pascos in the airport as they had the best exchange rate. Also when at the street side shops don’t be affraid to walk away and drive a hard bargin. In my opinion go to the wal-mart for souvenirs they are cheaper and its different experience as well. The most important thing I can suggest is if you are planning on using your bank card tell your bank in advance. I didn’t and they put a hold on my account till I called and complained as they said Mexico is a high risk area.

Had a wonderful time. Will definitely go back

We stayed Oct 20-27 and really enjoyed staying here. It was very clean and beautiful. The grounds are well maintianed with lots of plants and trees. It was easy to find a quiet spot on the beach or to take a walk around the grounds. I loved the beach and the pretty water. It was very relaxing to do nothing but take in the sights. I enjoyed watching the dolphins and the iguanas that came out in the mornings to sun. The weather was in the 90’s most days and the non air conditioned lobby and bar were cool with the breeze blowing. Everyone was real nice and helpful. This hotel is tucked back off the main path about a half mile, so there is a walk to get to the bus stops. We ate breakfast everyday in the air conditioned World cafe, the buffet restaurant. There were plenty of fresh choices and a variety. We had lunch and dinner a few times, every time time the food was hot and fresh. We are not picky eaters and options did change each day. Dreams has two outdoor seaside restaurants. I loved the seafood cocktail(cold shrimp and scallops) and any version of the grouper. The pico de gallo with chips was great too- so fresh. There is also a Japanese restaurant on site- we never made it. We went off the property for dinner to two places that we could walk to- a seafood restaurant over looking the water(near the first bus stop going into the city) we had to go get lobster! The other was the Mexican steakhouse in the same circle.

I loved the ease of the bus. No need for a rental car. 1 US dollar- really. We took lots of 1 dollar bills for daily tipping for the wait staff, room staff and the bus. Taxi’s were around 10 bucks for 2 to get up and down the main road. Walmart was not worth the trip for souvenirs. We used credit cards for meals outside the resort. The trip to Chichen Itza is worth the time and money.

Had a great time!

My 17 year old son and I went To Dreams Cancun for fall break. It was really nice. The food was fabulous and it is so nice not having to make reservations! I love the location. Room service was fantastic. All the people who work there are ready to make your vacation a great experience.

Dreams Cancun Resort

The hotel was great. Upgraded to a club level room although after walking past several non club rooms I’m not so sure the upgrade was worth it. We were supposed to have a private beach, but nothing prevented the non club room folks from walking over to our beach. Not a big deal. The resort was great and is perfect for a long weekend getaway.

Will be going back soon!!!!

I have been to Cancun 6 times and this is my 4th stay at this hotel...So that’s telling you how much I enjoyed it...I stayed at two other 5 star hotels to try something different but came back to this hotel...I find the location perfect...you can walk to a shopping areas...During the day the dolphin shows at the hotel facinated me...I was totally satisfied with the food and services the hotel provided for me...24 hour room service...What more can you ask for...Can’t wait to go back and see all the friends I made while I was there....

Don’t think I’ll go back

the 4 stars was for my husband and son. I was sick the whole time. this is a very laid back hotel and as such the activities were a litlle less quality than I expected. No water trikes, rock wall was for little kids . The only water sports was a canoe. rifle shooting was a bit laughable as the gun ’s site was taped on. The gentleman spoke very little. The food was good and the room service was nice. Do think they need to do more with mildew and mold-grout was very red. Probably wouldn’t have bothered me if I wasnt in hotel room so long. We were in the 1 bedroom and was in much better condition than standard room. Overall the staff were very nice. Once you get past the condition of the hotel, you find a fun loving environment.

Happy Honeymooning!

The resort was amazing and the people very friendly...the food not so good. The Japanese restaurant in the resort was amazing and Louis was a great server! Aside from the food we are ready to go back our honeymoon was amazing we are very happy with our trip :) Thank you P.S. Watch out for the time share people...they are out there offering trips and such but they are really trying to get you...stick with the staff from Best Day Travel they will get you everything you need :)

good but not great

First visit to Dreams was 2005 after the huricane and it was fabulous. The property is showing signs of neglect and entertainment was lacking. Food was not as good but still a great vacation option.

Can’t wait to go back

I loved this hotel it was the best. I would love to go back. The food was excellent and everybody was very nice.

Pefect Family Vacation

We stayed for a week with a room overlooking the Dolphin pool. Pros: 1. Location - surrounded by water on three sides, secluded, yet walking distance to the closest mall with night life. 2. Balcony with a hammock - can watch dolphins all day long and hear them splash at night 3. The beach is on the Isla Mujeres side is perfect, no waves, very shallow waters. 4. Hotel was about 50% full so plenty of space on the beach and no wait in the restaurants. 5. Maid service twice a day, and very fast to respond. Our son spilled some Coke on the bed and service came within 5-10 minute to replace the sheets. 6. Choice of food - 4 different restaurants to choose from (not all open at the same time). 7. Spa is excellent - well worth the $. 8. Pretty decent gym with towels and equipment and yoga classes. Cons: 1. Since it’s an all inclusive concept - service at the restaurants was slow at times 2. Quality of food was ok, nothing to rave about, but decent enough. Would like to see more choice for kids food - it was basically the same everyday at the buffet - hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers. 3. Entertainment was a bit on a light side - perfect for us, since we just wanted a relaxing vacation, but some people might be disappointed. 4. Since the hotel wasn’t very full, explorer’s club (kid’s club) was often pretty empty, so not much fun for our son.

Don’t use taxis. Buses in Cancun are great! Costs 7 pesos (about 50-60 cents a person) and the longest wait time for us on a weekend was about 5 min.

Great Beach, good food and drinks

The hotel itself needs a bit of a facelift, but you can not beat the location. The food is really good for an all inclusive, and you can not beat the drinks. Rooms are very comfortable, service is great. Great place to relax and enjoy some of the best beachs anywhere.

Fantastic Resort

This resort was clean and very easy to relax in. The 4 restaurants always served delicious food and there was a nice variety. There are two main areas - one where music blasts over the pool and dolphin area and one where it is really quiet and peaceful. Each area is really nice - depending on your mood. The location is fantastic - it’s right on the tip on the strip so it wasn’t crowded and it felt secluded. At the same time, it is within walking distance of most major places on the strip. We highly recommend this resort.

Great Location

The sand in Cancun is so soft and white its almost like flour. This hotel has the best location IMO, on the tip of a pennisula with water on 3 sides.

Traveler's tip

Take a bunch of singles for tipping. Staff is ready to help but becomes more polite and appropriate once you have passed the singles couple of times.

The Hotel , Service and food with drinks where amazing an every way. I am very happy to come back again. Is one of the best services, food and location over all is a Super great place to enjoy Vacations.

The Best of South of the Border

This resort has just enough comfort that keeps drawing you back year after year. The food is second to none and the service is exceptional. The water is calm and soothing with just enough beach for relaxing. This is why Dreams Cancun is our favorite getaway every year and are planning for next year. It can’t come soon enough.

Traveler's tip on dining

We have never had a bad dining experience in five stays at Dreams. The staff is experienced and very personable with very little turn over from year to year. Take full advantage of the three open air restaurants for dinner, each being unique. Our favorite is the Himitsu which has some of the best sushi anywhere.

Worth the Money

Our room had a fantastic view of the turquoise caribbean sea and the downtown cancun was only 4 minutes walk from our hotel. The volleyball girl was great and full of energy and keping all the fun activities alive. Scuba guy was really great and so was the rest of the staff. We were there for 4 nights and we had a blast...totally.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you visit Chichen Itza make sure your trip includes a visit to the "ikkil" the blue cenote. Also with a half an hour cruise you can visit Isla mujeres an island where you can swim with the dolphins(totally worth it) and snorkel plus other activities.

Great vacation

Everyone was extremely friendly. The food is mediocre, but the drinks and service make up for it!

Loved it!

We loved it. The location was ideal. All the staff were very curtious. The rooms ane nice, clean and quiet. We’d go back there again.

beautiful views and great location

We stayed at the Dreams Cancun in Sept. We upgraded to a suite in the club tower. The room was very nice and the view was fantastic!! Service and entertainment team at the hotel was not as good as I anticipated. It did get better at the end of the trip, but have had much better service at other resorts. Food was very good at Oceana and Sea Side, buffet was good most nights. Beach areas were nice, pool was small and they needed to do a better job cleaning it. Dreams should take out the lagoon area and dig a larger pool!! Dolphins were fun to see every day!

Great Vacation

This is a great resort. The room was great. The food was good and the service was fantastic! I would stay again.
