Great staff, great location, great price
Stayed here for four nights; I got a good deal during the winter season. Staff members were always friendly and knowledgable. Rooms are small, but neat and comfortable. Hotel was within walking distance of the sights I wanted to see. Only thing I wish the rooms had would be wifi (although there is an option for Internet through the rooms TV). If the hotel is within your price range, and youre not looking to stay at a mansion, I would recommend this place.

Would go back in a heartbeat
The whole experience was grand. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful with directions and information. Our only complaint was no hair dryer. Most travellers expect this these days. The location was ideal for the sights we wished to see, being central to all of the attractions. Within walking distance of Trinity College, Dublin Castle, museums, Grafton Street, Christ Church and the Liffey. We couldnt have cjosen a better hotel.

Good Value, Great Location
I selected the OCallaghan Mont Clare based on the reviews on Expedia. I wanted to stay at a sister hotel (the Davenport) which is located right across the street. However the price for the night I needed had gone up when I was ready to book. The Mont Clare was a great price so I selected it as a substitute. As a 50 something adult these two hotels are all about LOCATION. Beautiful, safe, quiet neighborhood, close to Dublins free museums and shopping, close to the Pearse Station, on the Airport Coach route (from the airport). The manager is awesome, the staff was very helpful. The room was smaller than the Davenport, where we eventually stayed, but bigger than many European hotels. We had a non-smoking room, but you could smell smoke. West Coast coffee around the corner is great for croissants, coffee and scones. Recommend for value and location.
Three of the National Museums and the National Art Gallery are free. The food and coffee at the Art Gallery is fabulous but no dinner. Complete Irish breakfast (five choices) plus coffee and toast is only 5 euro.

Good Hotel, good location
A friend and I stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel room was decent and clean, and in a great location. Its only a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. If you drive, the parking lot is down the block and they dont have valet. The staff was a bit unfriendly to us as well. Our room safe was malfunctioning and they took a while to come up to fix it and acted as if it was our fault that it wasnt working. The girl at the front desk was not very helpful when we asked her for things to do in and around town and for driving directions. All in all, Its a decent place to stay.

Simple but welcoming and comfy
Our 8-day stay at the Mont Clare suited us just fine. It was simple but clean and quiet, and the staff made it feel like home. Its central location was perfect for getting on foot to virtually all the desirable sites in the city, as well as meeting all of our dining and transportation needs. We feel we received good value for our dollars, too. If we return to Dublin, well go back in a minute !
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Skip the taxi and take the uncrowded Aircoach from the airport; pickup is outside the airport door and drop-off is 100 yards from the Mont Clare. Round trip is 14 euros, less than half the taxi fare. The Mont Clare dining room serves a delicious breakfast buffet, but there are several nearby small coffee shops near Trinity College. Save big dollars by not renting a car while in Dublin; walk or use public transportation. Very inexpensive rental bikes are available streetside, too.

Lovely Time
The room was clean, the hotel had charm, and the parking was very affordable. The front desk was very helpful in guiding us towards activities, giving directions, and other town suggestions. The location was very central, and having parking at a very reasonable price was key. If we get a chance to re-visit Dublin, Id stay there again for sure.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Hotel was close to many tourist points in Dublin and we felt safe walking to and from the hotel even later at night. Definitely a prime location.

Great Place to Stay in Dublin
The location of the hotel was excellent. I liked the room a lot, especially the bathroom. It was aethestically pleasing and very clean. The sheets were very thin but that was the worst part of the room. The staff was helpful in making suggestions.

Great hotel, Great Location
My wife and I just spent our honeymoon at this hotel and we loved it. The location is great, close to museums, temple bar, and trinity college. Also, it is close to the Pearse DART station so you can get around town easily and affordably. The service was great and they even went out of their way to help us check in earlier so that we could take a nap because we were exhausted from travel. We never ate at their restaurant or bar though because we wanted to go out for food. Give them a try!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
This hotel is about a block from Pearse DART station. I suggest taking the dart to either Bray or Howth (we did both). At these locations you can find hikes go high up on cliffs on the Irish sea, something that is too amazing to describe!

Great value close to Trinity College Dublin
I stayed at the OCallaghan Mont Clare recently while attending a conference at Trinity College Dublin. The college was a 5-minute walk away, which was very convenient. Temple Bar and its associated restaurants and nightlife are about a 15-minute walk. The Mont Clare was the best deal I found close to Trinity College, and the hotel was a good value. The surrounding streets are quiet at night. The rooms are small (by American standards) but have all the essentials. It was a bit chilly in the room (even in June!), and I couldnt figure out how to work the radiator (not sure if its meant to be controlled by clients). Fortunately, the blankets on the beds were so thick that I didnt miss the heater at night. And the bed was very comfortable. I didnt try breakfast because it looked overpriced. Service was very helpful. Id stay there again if visiting Trinity College Dublin.

Convenient, clean,curteous, comfortable, quiet
Everyone courteous, room was more than adequate, usually stay in B&Bs in Ireland, but wanted to be very close to bus stop for airport, across street, resturants, heartedly recommend Foleys either us or down in the pub, with music at 8pm, and was across the street from the Hop On and Off bus which we used for local transport. Museums close by, parks close by, bless Casa Sol for their scones and tea in the morning, just down the street.
Traveler's tip on dining
With dollar to euro prices not to favorable the need to economize when can is ever present. Found good meals, Foleys; good breakfast Casa Sol on the corner from the hotel, Bewleys on Grafton Street, nice, but a little pricey.

Good value
Room was smaller than expected, but we didnt spend much time there anyway. Staff was very helpful, and the room service was quite prompt. Excellant location within the city.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If you are going to be there for several days, be sure to purchase the 3 day pass for the Dublin tour bus. It is only 25 euro and it takes you everywhere in the city. The commentary may get stale, but not getting lost in the city was priceless.

Pretty decent.
We stayed at the top floor, had great view, but it was one of those windows that cant be open, so it was pretty stuffy even with the air conditioning. I mean were lucky to have such a nice weather when we went, but it got the room pretty stuffy and warm. Air conditioning didnt help much, just circulated the air. The service was great though! Great location, next to the Air Coach bus from the airport and tour bus!

Good location, older hotel though
The hotel location is within walking distance of many major things to see in Dublin. Hotel breakfast is really expensive though and our room was small and outdated. It was comfortable enough, however still older bedding and furniture. Dont depend on the hotel to call you a taxi. Ordered a taxi one morning that never showed, so we finally hailed our own. Room literature was outdated and if you expect to be able to eat something after coming in on a late hour, youre wrong...nothing is open. Overall, I would probably stay there again if I really needed a place to stay and couldnt find anything else.

Great location, nice place, tiny room
Merrion Square is a great place to stay in Dublin - right next to the downtown core but far enough away to avoid major crowds. Except the annoying tour buses that woke us up every morning telling riders about the Wilde statue in the park, that is. The hotel was very nice, if tiny - our friends stayed at the pricier Davenport across the way and their room was twice as big. But for a few days this was great. FYI, breakfast not included in the Expedia price.

Worth a repeat
The hotels greatest asset without a doubt is the location. Cant beat it. The hotel itself is very attractive and well kept. The staff is very helpful and the pub is more than adequate for a meal, even if the menu is somewhat limited and overpriced for the quality. The housekeeping is somewhat iffy. The biggest drawback is the small size of the room and the lighting in general. It is imperative that you get a room in the back because a room facing the street is horribly noisy.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
O Donanhues a must. Go early.

Good location, nice staff
My husband and I stayed at OCallaghan Mont Clare for a week on an anniversary trip. We are very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. The hotel is not perfectly situated in city center, but it took us only 5-10 minutes to walk where wed like to go, usually. Located across the street from Merrion Square, right near government buildings and the National Gallery. A very short walk to the Pearse DART station. Its in a good neighborhood-my husband and I always felt safe. The staff was friendly and accommodating, always polite. We arrived around 7:30 AM, and they let us check in early, which was very much appreciated. They were happy to look up information for us, offer directions, helpful hints, etc. The room itself was comfortable. Noise was never a problem. Its small, but thats just what you get in Dublin-we never felt cramped for space. I had room service once, and it hit the spot, but there are definitely better options out there. We ate breakfast at the hotel once for convenience, but again, there are better options for a full Irish breakfast, especially for the high price. Be sure to check out the travel brochure area in the lobby, especially the mini cards. We had our activities mostly planned out before we got there, but we found lots of savings and a few new ideas.
Traveler's tip
We took the Aircoach from the airport on the recommendation of other Expedia travelers because it drops off right at OCallaghan Mont Clare. It took us only 20 minutes to get IN to town-but it took almost an hour and a half to get OUT because its the first stop on the line. Make sure you have at least an hour and a half for your return, or walk down to the stop near Trinity College for more direct service.

Nice Hotel
It was a little more off the path than we thought, there arent any restaurants, stores, pubs, etc. close. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating and were helpful with directions and such.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Suggest taking a taxi here from the airport - the shuttle from the airport drops you off a little ways away and if you have any luggage it will be a hassle to wander the streets full of people with luggage! Eat before getting back to the hotel as there arent any restaurants very close.

Decent hotel for the price
The hotel was good for out short stay. It was clean and the ladies at the front desk were very helpful with our travel arrangements around the city. Only downside was the food in there bar....It was not to good, the boy serving us was not the best server. Besides that everything else was great.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If you dont like to walk get the bus pass, will get you on the bus free all day, also if you plan on visiting a lot of attractions get the dublin pass, gets you in free to 30 attractions, and at some spots you dont have to wait in line.

Hot Water Issues
We were supposed to stay 5 nights, but after the 3rd night, we transfered to a sister hotel across the street. We were on the first floor and never was there hot water for a shower in the morning. It was St. Paddys weekend and they were full, but we feel that was no excuse. We were told to just wait (waited for 3 hours, until it was past noon). Eventually they gave us room keys for a room on the 5th floor to shower. Hot water lasted only 5 minutes. Very unsatisfied at the service and lack of caring. Dont stay on the first floor!! Ask for a room on an upper floor to make sure you get hot water.

A Great Location and Reasonable Price
We found this hotel was a great location for access to all the historical attractions, museums, parks and transportation, within a reasonable walk. Its a bit far from Temple Bar for some tourists, but for us, also outside the more hectic, more crowded areas. It reminded me a bit of Kensington in London, and we felt very safe in this neighborhood.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
This is a great location for those doing business with government agencies.

Well located.
Easy to get to from the airport as the airport bus stops across the street from the hotel. Within walking distance of Trinity College, shops and restaurants. Friendly, helpful staff.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Airport bus provides frequent service, is easy to use and cheaper than a taxi. Eating at area cafes/pubs is more fun and less expensive than eating in the hotel dining room.
