Good location. Not 4 star!
The hotel is conveniently located to a number of interesting locations. However, it does not have the amenities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. And the front desk service was too dependent on who was on duty. There was no bellman to carry bags to rooms not accessible by lift, and the hotel buffet was marginal for a 4 star hotel. Think 3 star and you will be happy!

Get San Marco out of the way and then see more interesting parts of Venice such as the Guggenheim!

Fenice impresses again
This is my third stay at the Fenice over the past 15 years. The hotel has retained its small-scale, charming character, with knowledgeable English speaking staff. Location excellent, equidistant from 2 vaporetto stops and a short walk to Piazza San Marco (close but not too close). Lots of restaurant choices nearby.

Ask for a room facing the gondola canal.

A great Venetian traditional hotel!
I have stayed at the Hotel La Fenice Et Des Artistes several times. It is a quaint hotel located in an ideal spot...close enough to the center and far enough away to enjoy the silence of the place. It continues to be upgraded and the staff is most helpful and kind.
