Great Hotel, once we got the right room

I specifically reserved a "palm view" 2 bedroom for me and my parents. They were so excited to see the palm for themselves, but when we got to our room, all we could see was sheik zayed road. Very disappointing. I went back to reception to see what could be done, and she acted like I should be happy with the gift she gave me and that she couldn’t be bothered. I didn’t go away, and she went on to protest that only the 3 bedroom suites have palm view. I explained I paid extra though expedia for the view. Finally she gave us a 2 bedroom palm view on the 45th floor which was great. The view only let us see about half the palm, but now we could see everything north which gave us spectacular views of Dubai. The room(s) were magnificent, but it did take a few minutes to get hot water since I had to figure out that each room had its own electric hot water operated by individual switches. Only defect was that most of the marble sinks were chipped in some way or another. Excellent location both in the city of Dubai and within easy walking to the Marina boardwalk.

Dubai is an awesome city, and there is much to do there from waterparks, themeparks, ski Dubai, the autodrome, etc. However, check the prices for each activity before you go, or you’ll be in for sticker shock. For instance, a day at the atlantis waterpark runs about $100/per person once you get a towel, locker, admission, etc.

Apartment - Not a Hotel

I changed to the Sheraton after one day. There is no access to the coast. Even though it’s only a block away, you cannot walk down to it. There is extensive construction around the area. It’s more than a mile walk, across construction sites, to anywhere of interest. The "hotel" is really an apartment building and has no restaurants in the evening. It has a somewhat pleasant indoor pool. For a long-term stay, families might like the micro kitchen, but I really don’t recommend it and would not stay here again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There’s a pleasant area about a mile away near the Sheraton and the Hilton.

Would stay again and recommend as well.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend but my only complaint would be regarding the day to day maintenance of the room, the hotel seems to operate more like an apartment rather than a hotel, I guess you have to make a special request for room maintenance.

Traveler's tip on shopping

great location for shopping since the Emirates mall is nearby and the Emirates golf course is just minutes away but if you’re there for the nightlife intertainment, than I definitely would not recommend this location.
