Charming change from chain hotels
If you have to travel into the Syracuse area, this renovated old mill has lovely water views, is well appointed and well maintained. Though a little off the beaten path (about 10 min off freeway and 14 miles west of the city), its so worth it. This is a quiet, safe small town (I was there at Halloween, and there were lots of young children trick-or-treating without chaperones!); there are several restaurants close by. My "standard" room was very large and comfortable; the bed seemed quite new and of good quality. There is wifi and broadband for laptops (included, not extra), flat screen TVs with good cable choices, and a complimentary continental breakfast. In all, a great find, and the rates are equal to or less than most of the chain hotels.

Great place to stay
We stayed here for a week. Only complaint was continental breakfast, but I know that it means not much to eat. Coffee ran out fast, not always hot. Otherwise, I have no complaints and would stay here again. Our room was very large, could have fit another queen bed in it and still have room to walk around. Friendly staff. Quiet room, even when area had outdoor concerts in the evening

How about some light?
This hotel is beautifully situated between the Seneca River Falls on one side and the NYS Lock 24 on the other. The rooms are large but the lighting leaves much to be desired. I couldnt work in my room because it was too dark to read. Additionally, there were tiny bath soaps that were hard to hold onto in the shower. The soap is a small thing but it makes for inconvenience. The lighting is a big thing and made it hard to get work done once the sun went down. So, unless you are there for pure pleasure, I wouldnt recommed this to the business traveler.
Traveler's tip on dining
One block up the street is Mohegan Manor, whos dinners are gourmet. Not inexpensive but really good.
