Sweet location that will soon be even better!

This hotel is perfectly located within a couple of blocks of EXACTLY where you want to be to eat, shop, party, whatever in Reykjavik. And that couple of blocks gives a nice buffer when it comes to avoiding the party animals and noise when it’s bedtime. Our room had a beautiful view across the bay to the mountains -- but suffered a little noise from nearby highway. Foam earplugs were enough to block out any disturbance, though, and the sparkling cleanliness of the hotel at such a reasonable price compared to others I’d searched was fantastic. The morning breakfast up on the top floor restaurant was marginal, but the view incredible. I managed to get free parking on two nights with my rental car. And staff was great about dealing with issues. (My TV didn’t work in my first room, and they immediately switched me to an even-better room!) Would definitely stay here again!!

It sounds like a tourist trap, but the Blue Lagoon is an absolute must. You’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else on earth -- I promise!!! I’m totally jaded and I was blown away. It’s also well worth renting a car and traveling up to see the Gulfoss waterfalls and Geyser along what they call "The Golden Circle." it’s a full day’s trip, but a rental car (if there’s more than one of you) will be half the price of a bus tour, and it’s easy to do without getting lost. Beautiful, striking country. And you can walk right up dangerously close to the Geyser, which is unbelievably impressive to experience!!!

Kickin hotel..

Really nice inside the lobby and the room size was good for myself and my friend. It is really close to the main shopping street and close to all the main restaraunts and clubs. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had in any european hotel too.

With Potential

Being a new establishment, this hotel shows a strong foundation for a possibly excellent growth. Service in the hotel was friendly enough, but employees seemed a bit unexperienced. The hotel is very clean, but it has that cold feeling of having just finished construction. (Probably because it just did.) They have a pretty good view of the bay (and all the new waterfront construction.) If you stay here a year from now (say Fall 2010)-- the hotel will be excellent in appearance and service, but maybe not so in price.

shower is not fully enclosed (typical European-- no shower curbs/trays); bring your own [alarm] clock; don’t eat the scrambled eggs (which are synonymous with rubber); city sights are all within walking distance
