We love the Lake Union Residence Inn

It’s a family tradition for us to stay here--we love the huge lobby fountain, the pool, the make-your-own pancake breakfast, the ducks on the lake across the street...The new decor is snappy and a nice update to the rooms!

Perfect downtown hotel with kitchen!

For those who prefer to have a full kitchen in their hotel room, this place is perfect! It’s particularly great for families because kids don’t have patience for sitting in restaurants for all meals. The breakfast buffet has the largest menu I’ve ever seen. The beds are extremely comfortable. Use of the business office, computers, internet, and printers is all free! It’s right on a trolley line to go a mile or so into the heart of downtown, and there is a wonderful Whole Foods store on the trolley line so you can stock up for your kitchen even without having a car. The trolley is a great way to get to downtown buildings. There is also a bus stop, and the bus takes you to other further areas than the trolley. The hotel is in a beautiful quiet location on Lake Union, but within walking distance of the Space Needle. I can’t say enough about this hotel!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Whole Foods on the trolley line has a great deli so even if you don’t feel like cooking, stock up your refrigerator and enjoy the great food. Trolley and busses near hotel are cheap way to get around town without a car, although they don’t always run late so you’ll occasionally have to take a taxi.

Good Location

This Mariott is close to downtown and Seattle Center and near the freeway. The breakfast buffer selection was good, and it was nice to have the option to bring back meals, keep them in the fridge, and then heat them up the next day. We found that the wireless connection in our room was poor and slow. Using the ethernet cable greatly improved the connection. I never used my laptop in the lobby (I saw several people doing so) so I don’t know if the wireless connection was better there

Traveler's tip on dining

Definitely have dinner at Chandler’s on Lake Union across the street. The dungenese crab was fabulous
