great location! -- great hotel!
This was a great location--right in the heart of pedestrian shopping in Stavanger, near the harbor. We walked everywhere--the harbor is about a 5-10 minute walk. Hotel staff is very nice -- front desk and maids. Breakfast was great--it was in the restaurant of the hotel, with hot and cold items. the only drawback was the size/configuration of the bathroom. The sink was so close to the shower that you couldnt stand in front of the mirror! so thats the reason for the comfort rating. But everything is new and nice. Windows are sound deafening (we had a street side window--you wouldnt want courtyard--its not pretty) Beds are all Duxiana, as are most in Norway and very comfortable. Hotel staff was very helpful when we asked questions and asked for help.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Stavanger is a nice small harbor town/city. We were there during the food festival in July. We enjoyed the people watching and walking around. Fjord cruise to Lysefjord was a highlight for us!

Pretty good hotel
We chose this particular hotel based on its reviews and the reviews of other hotels in the area. The location is fantastic - in the heart of the downtown area, but away from the bar scene. The rooms are small, but we didnt spend much time there. They offered a nice complimentary breakfast. We were not impressed by the hotel staffs lack of organization - we had to have our room key re-coded each day, and some days we didnt get housekeeping service. Also, the staff seemed only partly knowledgeable about local transportation (specifically airport transportation) - thanks to them we almost missed our bus to the airport. Overall, the staff seemed indifferent at best to our requests and questions.
