Worth every yen

Beautiful hotel very near the train station. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. All spoke english. Pay the extra for a room with a view. 10 minute walk to places to eat local food or go to the castle. Would definately stay there again when in Osaka-Jo.

Traveler's tip on dining

Other side of the river behind train station is great sushi.

A Happy Stay

Spacious room, comfortable beds, gorgeous view of the castle. It was also very close to the Osaka Jou Hall where we watched Disney on Ice.

Wonderful

The New Otani was a great hotel. The room size was great, the service was wonderful. While in a business district of Osaka, it had restaurants close by. Great shopping and entertainment was only 3 train stops away (ten minutes). Train station was in walking distance from hotel (across the street). The view from our window was fantastic. It overlooked the river and Osaka castle. Great value for your money.

Impressive hotel

This was a first class hotel with excellent service. We has a castle view, which was worth the extra money, especially at night. It was in a great location - easy access to the train station that we used every day. The only things we did not like were the food prices at the restaurants in the hotel. Way too much money for what you got, so we ate there only once. The other thing was the room tended to be on the warm side. We turned the thermostat down each day, only to find it turned back up again when we returned in the evening.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Eat elsewhere, but enjoy the view of the city and Osaka Castle.

Spacious, convenient hotel with good value for price

Our room was spacious, easily fitting two beds, a crib for our baby, and luggage. We paid for a room with a view of Osaka Castle, which was spectacular. The bathroom had a comfortable shower and lots of counter space. The location, 4 train stops from Osaka station, was convenient. Check-in and -out was smooth. This is a big hotel with expected conveniences, e.g. restaurants, concierge, etc. Our only minor complaint is that the hotel is somewhat lacking in personality. Otherwise, our visit was comfortable and we would stay again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Skip eating breakfast at the hotel. Within a few blocks are a Starbucks, Mr. Donuts, and a Pronto, which is a Japanese chain with a breakfast set for a very reasonable price.

Amazing Service

We really felt that we got the best hotel in osaka. After visiting the Sheraton which was our second choice we were so happy being at New Otani. The service in the hotel was beyond expectations and the restaurants were 1st class. The hotel is beautifully laid out. We got the castle view and it was beautiful at night. Fabulous. Highly recommended to west bound travelers. Naka-Honolulu Hawaii

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a super convenience store across the street from the hotel and they offer fresh ready to eat snacks for quick breakfasts and such!

Very Impressed - would stay here again

There was only one minor issue with this stay. The hotel restraunt was very expensive. Other than that this was definately a 5* hotel. Our room overlooked the Imperial Palace and OSAKA JO-HALL. The hotel was absolutely beautiful & everyone went out of their way to be helpful.

Nice view,, but not worth the price

The facade, lobby, service & shops of the New Otani are 5 star. The room unfortunately is from another world. Carpet was well worn with stains throughout. Shower curtain had mold and overall appearance was shabby. Even the TV was an old tube style. Tea was free, but we were charged $3.50 per person for using the coffee bags. This we didn’t know until our third day. Room was 2 star, rest was 5. Can’t sleep in the lobby though! Great views of Osaka Castle don’t compensate for the condition of the room and the price you pay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

New Otani is about 5 minute walk from the Osakajokoen train station, which easily connects to the other JR lines, including Osaka main station. Perfect for those holding JR passes and whom wish to base their travels from Osaka. The castle is across the street and as well as several eateries and small grocery stores. It’s all located in a quieter area, yet close enough to the pulse of the city.

good location

the hotel is right opposite the osaka castle, which is great for a room with a view. the hotel has good food, and is close to a couple of shopping malls. also on the plus side you can hire a push bike for a excellent price for the whole day. my only downfall, is if you have tattoos on your arms, your not allowed to use the fittness studio.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

osaka castle, the oaska-jo hall and a baseball park are right outside your door.

New Otani Osaka

The hotel itself is what you’d expect from the New Otani organization.... very nice, very clean, comfortable yet still to Japan standards for space and features. Location is wonderful once you get past getting to it from the airport. It’s right at the main entrance to the Osaka Castle, in the midst of business and concert all district. It’s a bit remote from most anything else but just a short walk to the subway station, on which access to nearly everything of interest is possible. So.. if you are open to exploring Osaka by subway or train, it’s a nice location. Tons of dining alternatives in the neighborhood, including several in the hotel and as many lower cost options in neighboring office buildings.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

They offer bike rentals through the hotel. It’s a great way to see the castle and much of Osaka. Cheap transportation too.

Catered to Medical Needs...

We stayed in a triple room, accessible to individuals with medical needs. The hotel also provided a hospital bed for comfort. The hotel is very comfortable, clean and with a view of the Osaka castle. The staff are very helpful, polite and willing to help all the time. The concierge staff is very efficient and helped us book our tours. The hotel is easy walking distance to JR rail, convenience stores and shopping areas.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Fast food, convenience stores in front of the hotel and a block away. Buy a phone card in the hotel if you wanted to call overseas. If you decided to take the taxi from the airport (Osaka-Kansai Airport) to hotel or vice versa, please arrange from the hotel for taxi transportation. You can save money.

Great hotel to stay

Hotel is convienent to the JR Lines and a short walk to the Osaka castle. Hotel staff is helpful and provided a useful map and directions to sights on check-in. Rooms are very comfortable and plush. Business center has a computer for customer use, but has limited hours and they’ll charge you a few dollars for 30 minutes use. The Hotel has several restuarants, but most run on the pricey side, so if you are looking for cheaper fare, you’re better off going elsewhere.

would definitely go back to this hotel

The New Otani Hotel is a 5star service hotel. They were able to fill our every need, from providing umbrellas ,bicycles.etc and were very gracious. My only complaint was you had to ask for your second cup of coffee in the restaurant. We had a great view overlooking Osaka castle park, and the location the rail station was convienet

Good Location for Osaka-jo

We spent one night in the New Otani while visiting Osaka. The location is fine for enjoying the park and the castle, it is however a bit remote from the nightlife and shopping.

The right choice

I was extremely satisfied with the hotel - service, room, comfort - everything. If possible you should request a room overlooking the Osaka Castle - priceless!! I wanted to be close a train station so I could make Osaka my base and travel to other locations. Five minutes to a JR station that is on the Osaka Loop Line. Perhaps 10 minutes to another station that is also on the JR Loop Line and on the subway. Easy access to the hotel even with luggage. The train takes about 10 minutes to Osaka Station (4 stops). I did not like that they charge a fee if you want to use the pool or fitness center.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Walking distance to the Osaka Castle! Restaurants and shopping nearby in the business park!!

Incomparable

Underpriced! That’s an unusual description coming from a value seeker like myself. Most rooms face the castle and have fabulous views. All the latest tech and conveniences, spacious and well decorated rooms, wide hallways. Two seperate subway lines, both within 150 yds of the hotel. Several fast food restaurants close by along with others ranging from easy to very expensive. Medical clinic on 4th floor and fancy shops galore, off the lobby. You can zip up to Kyoto & back quick and inexpensively. Concierge is tres bon! Not enough hotels like this one!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

You can get anywhere in the city on your choice of two subway stations in close walking distance.

Great hotel

Service was incredible, they even upgraded our rooms to have a view of the Castle since we had to wait 15 minutes for our rooms to be cleaned. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a nice clean neighborhood with lots of great places to eat in walking distance. However, not too many english speakers in this area. The hotel seems like it is more for Japanese than tourists which was fine.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Great dog store in the MP business building.

A great hotel for a reasonable price

The hotel has a beautiful view of the Osaka Castle, especially at night when the castle is lit up. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is close to various shops and eating establishments, which could really help those who want to eat cheaper but still get good food.

Friendly neighborhood

The hotel staff all spoke English and were very helpful. The room was immaculate, lots of great local places to eat. The location of the hotel itself was very serene and quite. I definitely am planning to go back again.

Traveler's tip on dining

There were two office buildings across from the hotel that had about 10 casual dining places in each one. They were all reasonably priced with great local specialities.
