Good Location, Bad Bed

The hotel was very nice and located in the downtown Seoul area, which is perfect for tourists. They also had a convenient complimentary shuttle to major tourist attractions in the downtown area which was great. My one complaint is that the bed was very hard and when I asked for a pad or something to put on the mattress to make it softer, I was told it would cost extra. I think for what you’re paying to stay there, they should provide something like that at no charge.

nice but.....

Although the hotel was excellent - we had to taxi everywhere because it was not within walking distance of even a restaurant!!! The buffet restaurant was very expensive.....

Good Location; Clean Rooms; Use the Free Shuttle

Nice hotel with a good central location. Just a few blocks from an area with shops, bars and cafes. Beds are very hard but otherwise very comfortable and clean. Will stay here again the next time we are in Seoul.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The free shuttle bus is wonderful and takes you to many of the area’s highlights. Also the KAL airport shuttle drops off and picks up at the hotel...very convenient.

Mosquito in the room but great & prompt service.

First night we were bothered by mosquito in the room the whole night but they quicky arranged another room for us the following day. We were satisfied with their service but mosquito in the room was rare in a city hotel.

Sofitel

Not bad, but the front receptionst can not express clearly to the guest in English which cauesed misunderstanding

Moderately priced, French Charme, Not in the center of the city.

The Ambassador is a comfortable hotel of the French Accor Group. I personally liked the clever construction of the desk that allowed me to store all kinds of papers and equipment that I had carried with me. The monstrous toilet in the bathroom reduced the available space in the bathroom. The prices are reasonable but the hotel is not in the center of the city.

Definitely our choice in Seoul.

Pro: 1. Convenient above-ground free parking lot. 2. Clean & Elegant lobby & Restaurants. 3. Friendly & helpful staffs. 4. Ultra modern equipments such as big flat screen TV, various electrical adapters (110v & 220v), easy-to-use safe, ironing board with an iron, etc. 5. Fairly close to subway stations & main shopping streets. 6. Heated swimming pool & Hot tub. Con: 1. Wired/Wireless Internet accesses are not free (minor inconveninece).

It was so nice to stay during Seoul trip.

When we stayed this hotel, it was my friend’s birthday. We recived nice surprise Birthday cake with wake up call. It was good memory for us. Thanks a lot!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Location may not be the best if you are looking for shopping and restaurants, but subway is very convenient and easy to use to go to interesting places in Seoul. You could also check the area next to Cheong station which has a number of low cost restaurants and fast food. Otherwise, the area is quieter than other hotels in Seoul.

Very nice and reasonable rate

This hotel is about 5min walk to restaurants and MRT. Hotel is not walking distance to any major shopping or tourist spots, but the hotel has a shuttle bus that runs every hour that will take you there.

Exceptionally Nice

The Sofitel is the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in Seoul. I’ve lived in Korea over 8 months and this is the 10th hotel I’ve stayed at in the city, so I’m not biased in saying this hotel is top notch. Not only does it offer the amenities one would expect from a member of the Sofitel chain, but there are even additional touches (such as: the mirror de-fogger for a clear reflection after a hot shower or the private computer station with free internet and 110V/220V compatible outlets for foreign visitors who may have forgotten their electrical converters) that make this place truly feel like a place you want to come home to...even if it is a home away from home.

A Fine Stay

The Sofitel Ambassador Seoul was just what you’d expect from the Sofitel brand. The room was reasonably priced, clean, and comfortable. I gave 4 stars for service because the concierge desk was never staffed with an actual concierge. English was limited, but it was still much better than my Korean!

Traveler's tip on dining

Cafe 7 Gram was a block away from the Dongguk University metro stop (which was a 5 minute walk from the hotel). I stopped there every morning for a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee before heading out to explore.

Nice Hotel

This is a very nice hotel with excellent service. The view of Seoul is great, the attendants are top notch, and the food is good. The rooms are smaller than you would expect for a suite and the price, but its clean and all amenities are readily available.

This hotel is in DongDaemun, close to the Shilla Hotel. The Seoul Tower is nearby along with many downtown attractions.

Good overall, but a few minor issues

I stayed at new years for 4 nights. I’m a 4-5star traveller, so I am a bit picky. The good parts: + location is 5min from Subway, near some restaurants + pricing is quite good + basically clean and comfortable, free internet on business floors. + linens are acceptable level The not good: - bathrooms smelled terrible, I changed rooms once and it was better, but still bad odors - shower water temperature was not consistent, quite annoying during the winter - hotel is somewhat basic, lacks some flash of 4-5star, and location is not in an ultra active zone (close enough though) - no humidifier available so it was so dry I was dying. Overall still a good deal as it was about 30% less than Shilla, Grand Hyatt, and other 5-star venues, but I think I’ll go full 5-star next time around for a shorter trip.

Too cheap to run air conditioner

We visited in the fall, but the days were warmer than typical (I assume). Was told that they had "turned off" their air conditioning for the winter, which explained why the system did not respond to my thermostat setting of 70F when the room was 78F. Woke up sweating every (of six) days after a fitful night. And every day I asked the problem to be addressed. And every day they agreed but ultimately did nothing. Other that than it was a very nice hotel, with a very helpful and friendly staff and a *great* location.

Use the hotel’s free area shuttle bus. Makes a loop through the downtown area with about a dozen stops.

walking distance to subway station. free hotel shuttle that takes you to about 6 key locations in downtown seoul was really convenient. will definitely stay here again.

Sofitel Ambassador

Good location to walk to nearby attractions and subway. Very comfortable bed, pillow, and sheets. Quiet room mostly except when people were talking outside loudly for long periods late at night. Almost called to complained but too exhausted.

Hotel restaurant and coffee are pricey, but should dine at least once for experience.

Very modern hotel with an excellent staff. The hotel is a quieter alternative to the Hilton Millennium hotel.

Even better than I expected

I had read almost exclusively good reviews of the Sofitel Ambassador before staying there for two nights. It turned out to exceed even the expectations those reviews engendered. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The food - room service and on-site restaurants - was very good. The staff was especially helpful. I injured my foot the first night of our stay, and they brought up ice and pillows as needed to treat the injury. A very highly recommended hotel.
