Attention to Detail Lacking
I booked this hotel , realizing in advance that it was not a 5 star property, and it lived up to it;s reputation . We arrived on a cold, rainy , miserable Nov . evening,. The Check IN clerk , while efficient, was overwhelmed with the number of guests arriving, and I waited in queue for approx, 15 mins to check in . We arrived to our room, to find that the heat was turned off, and the sliding glass door to the porch was wide open, ( did I mention that it was a cold , miserable, rainy , Nov. ) ? Re - checked into another room, ( another wait in queue , no apology ) . Be aware in advance that the sound proofing between floors is marginal, it is not difficult to hear people walking in the room above . This may not be a concern at 6;00 pm, but it is a concern at midnight.........

great place to stay for the price.
This was our second stay here. We stayed in the motor lodge, which was an adequate room with a balcony. It did have a hairdryer. Dinner at the main house was excellent. Complimentary Breakfast in the Ebenezer tavern with a fireplace was nice with homemade muffins and sweet buns. The ice machine was inconvenient, outside entry, and not in each building. The grounds are nice for walking.

Lovely in the fall
My adult daughter and I stayed at the Publick House Lodge to give us a hub for our sightseeing in the area. The day we arrived (Oct. 22) the temperature outside was in the mid 70’s. We loved having the little balcony looking out on the beautifully colored woods behind our room and the ability to open the sliding glass door and sit on the balcony watching the squirrels. My daughter lost an object while getting ready to sleep and had to look under the bed for it. She commented, "I hope that’s rice and not maggots." It was rice. I looked under my bed and found 2 used ear plugs someone prior to our stay must have lost. I guess you could say the room could have used a little more attention to the cleaning details. Other than that, the room was large and the beds comfortable. I would stay there again.
