Affordable find near green oasis in Nottingham
If you like to walk a bit, and enjoy a nice walk in green spaces in the morning, this may be the Nottingham hotel for you. Its not in the city center, but not more than a 10-minute walk from it either, and as a bonus you are couched in green, with a large, old cemetery on one side and the beautiful Arboretum on another. The staff are lovely, though seem overworked, and the stress of managing check-out, breakfast, and room-cleaning simultaneously sometimes dulls their good-faith efforts at hospitality. The English breakfast is ample and nice and, as its offered until 11AM, can really last you through the day. Its a little expensive to buy separately (7.50 GBP as I recall), so better to choose a room rate that includes it. The room I stayed in was a bit cramped for a double (the furniture took up most of the floor space), but the bed was comfortable. It was very quiet as well (except when my neighbor began to Skype, thereby exposing the thinness of the walls). I frequently need inexpensive accomodations in Nottingham, and will certainly stay here again.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The Arboretum is definitely worth a stroll-through on a spring day, and kids will love the Aviary with its parrots, canaries, cockatiels & budgies.
