Boutique Hotel in Downtown Ottawa
If you enjoy staying at smaller boutique hotels as opposed to the big name chains, this is the place for you. Excellent location with lots of food options nearby and near all tourism. Staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient. The free continental breakfast served in the spotless dining room is a very nice bonus and includes: all types of bread, fresh eggs for boiling, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, tea. You can eat as much or as little as you want. The room comes with a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and a full set of tableware. I would have given the hotel all 5s except for a couple of issues: the in room thermostat wasnt working, basic hotel amenities were missing (such as a bath mat, an alarm clock, and a hair dryer), and the rooms are a little noisy because they have hard wood floors instead of carpeting and have high ceilings. Also, Ottawa is a college town so expect things to get a little rowdy outside on Friday and Saturday nights: the hotel is half a block away from the nightlife. The actual hotel premises and surrounding area are quiet for the most part and the neighborhood is perfectly safe at all hours.
Two money saving tips: 1) you can take the public bus from the airport instead of a shuttle or taxi. Go to the info booth at the airport exit and buy 4 bus tickets (two to get there and two to get back). Go to the bus stop and wait for the OC Transpo 97. (not the 97X that stops there unless you want to pay more for the express). This bus will take you right into downtown Ottawa. Get off at the Rideau Centre Mall stop, walk through the Mall, and the hotel is within 5 minutes walking distance from it. (Right on Rideau for a block or two, Left on Dalhousie for three blocks, Right on Clarence for a half block) 2) there are two excellent options for stocking up on food and other necessities: one is a Metro supermarket (Left on Clarence for one block, Right on Cumberland for three blocks, Left on Rideau for half a block); the second option is a Shoppers Drug Mart in the Rideau Centre Mall.

Ottawas best kept secret
Great small Inn located in the heart of historic Ottawa. I have stayed there twice in the last few months while visiting my Aunt. Its close to the major arterials and walking distance to lots of great restaurants. The manager is very professional and helpful and the breakfasts varied and very good! Caroly

Excellent breakfast and value for money
Clean, good location, good value for money
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Dont buy a bus tour - it is easy to walk everywhere. When you are down and want to do one day trip outside the city - Gatineau Park is the place to go for the outdoors, particularly at fall!
