No Clean-up Service

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. On Saturday evening, the hotel posted via TV in our room a broadcast message that clean-up service would not be available on Sunday. We were not given a reason until we specifically asked for one at the reception. The reason was due to sickness of the maid and the hotel was unable to find a replacement. This was a bad experience for us not only because of the unsatisfactory sanitory condition of the room on that day; but also because of the indifferent and insincere manner that this bad news was informed to us.

Would stay here again!

This was an excellent hotel to stay at for my first trip to Helsinki. I took the advice I read here about getting to this hotel -take the bus from the airport to the train station for 4 euros vs. an expensive cab. The bus driver told me how to find the hotel. The hotel was a beautiful place to stay. The free breakfast in the morning was excellent with a great variety. Since I flew in from NY (overnight flight), it was 10:30am when I got to the hotel, hours before the scheduled check-in time. I asked if by chance they had a room ready - they did, and I was able to check in. The bed was very comfortable, and they offer a choice of pillows, which they will deliver to you based on your preference. I had a single room, which may have been smaller than average. The bathroom was quite tiny, and there was no shower curtain (by design, I assume). The heated floor in the bathroom was a plus! There was no air conditioning in the room; this was ok with me since it was not real hot out when I was there did not bother me. My room faced north/west towards the train station, which meant I could enjoy the perpetual sunset at 1:30am when I looked out the window in June. The hotel does not have a sauna, however the front desk clerk told me that the hotel had the same owner as the nearby Holiday Inn, where there is a sauna, and it is possible to get free passes to use the sauna there. I would recommend this hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

This hotel is in the middle of downtown Helsinki. I walked to the Cathedral, Market Square, and the Esplanade. I enjoyed local food at nearby restaurants, and live music at night clubs in the area. I shopped at Stockmans, which is nearby - they say that if Stockmans don’t sell it, that it isn’t worth buying - it is like Macys in NYC. There is much to see; all in walking distance. The 90 minute city bus tour is worth the price.
