NIce, well located and well priced but question their actions during power outage.
Very pleased overall with hotel - great location, clean and great value! However, in an unusual situation for California, we had a 24 hour power outage during which time there was NOTHING offered or done to assist guests. We had no phone and no lights, etc and I understand it was obviously not their fault. However, upon returning at 9:30 , in the dark, the office door was locked - hoping to at least borrow a flashlight- and I could not get ANY help from Days Inn via my cell phone. Surely they must have some plans in place for the SAFETY of their guests for these unusual situations? What would have happened if it had been an earthquake?
Monterey/ Carmel area is stunningly beautiful, with shopping, great restaurants and great scenery. MB Aquarium is a must see for everyone, especially families.

It was cheap
I will not stay at downtown Monterey again the next time I go to Pebble Beach. The room is worth exactly its price, nothing more. Hotel is slightly away from major traffic, but as a light sleeper, I could have done better staying at Seaside and drive in instead.
Traveler's tip on dining
Stay at Seaside and eat a good meal at the Fish House. Tiny hole in the wall with its own parking lot off Del Monte and the food is unbelievably fresh and GOOD.

Nice hotel
The only drawback was that the maid service kept coming back even though we asked them not to. At 11 am they told us it was check out soon. Check out was at noon, according to the front desk. It was a nice place, but would have been easier to relax in the morning if maid service would have not kept knocking.
