Every year in October several cousins (usually 4) get together and go to Florida for 5 or 6 days without spouses. For the past few years we’ve stayed at Ocean Sky and have really enjoyed our stay. The location on the beach is perfect, the staff is super friendly, and we have found the rates to be affordable. We usually take a combination package through Expedia which includes air, hotel and rental car for the duration of our stay. We’ve stayed here with our husbands and they enjoyed it also. The hotel could use a face lift as far as interior room decor and bedding and lighting in the rooms could be better. I’m sure we will be staying here in the future because it suits our needs perfectly.

There are so many fantastic restaurants in the Ft. Lauderdale area, many of them on the Intercoastal.

Nice place

I’m not too familiar with FLL, but i was staying there for the night on my way back from Key West. It was the perfect place to stay. After sleeping in a small "B&B" in Key West, the room was spacious, newly furnished, and clean. It was great to stretch out a bit. The location was good and the service was fine. You can eat outside by the pool and the beach is just down the steps. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Ocean Sky Hotel Worth Staying There

Stayed for three days 10/14/09 thru 10/17/09. Hotel is right on the beach! sitting in the pool area the chairs are free, move to the beach and you have to rent. You will pay an extra $10.00 per day for parking and hotel safe. There is a CVS and Winn Dixie supermarket within walking distance. I would recommend the Ocean Grill restaurant, next door to CVS. The bed was a bit hard but overall I was pleased with the hotel, location and price. This is a three star hotel and was a great value.

Not the worst Hotel, Partially Impressed

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for a leisure weekend. Upon arriving to check in to the hotel, we stood at the front desk for several minutes before the hotel staff even asked us if we were checking in. One person was on the telephone trying to get the attention of another employee. Finally after 7 or 8 minutes, they informed us that computers were down and to sit in the lobby for a few minutes. We were already "jet lag" from the flight and wanted to relax before heading out to the beach and other sights. Finally, we spoke with another gentleman who stated he was an manager, gave him a copy of our print out of accommodations already paid for and he immediately took it to the counter and informed us that are rooms will be ready in one minute. After they called us up to the counter, another manager came out who was very "RUDE". I asked her if she could accommodate us for the inconvenience, She replied and said, "What inconvenience, "2 minutes". I was trying to keep my composure and not explode because she was not around when we had arrived and she act as if she was there the whole time! Hotel was nice, room was ok, refrigerator did not get very cold, parking (valet) was $9.00 a day. We were a little nervous about staying here do to some of the reviews that was written . The housekeeping staff were wonderful, we had no complaints. Partial ocean view, really was to far away, wasn’t able to get full effect!! .

Catfish Deeys is the place for all you can eaty seafood. Sea Watch restaurant was also very nice

VERY IMPRESSED

I booked this hotel by accident thinking it was one we had previously stayed at.. This hotel was better than expected,,It was very clean and very accomodating. The only problem I saw was that the Tiki Bar was not as good as I thought it would be, and also there is an extra charge per night for parking. I would recommend this hotel and would definetly go back

This hotel is centrally located on the main strip, close to restuarants, night life and directly on the beach. It is a short distance to the center of Ft.Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach.

Our Second Stay

This place is all about location. Right on the beach. Several shops & a supermarket right across the street. The staff is friendly & helpful. The hotel lobby is nice but the rest of the hotel is old & out dated, We are not high maintanence so it didn’t bother us. The bar lacked top shelf alcohol. The bar @ the place next door is FANTASTIC!! Topshelf alcohol & muti screen tv with ALL sports networks. Again it’s all about the location. The pool area is clean. You have to pay for beach chairs & umbrellas. We will be going back.

Supermarket across the street wil save you some bucks. Buy food & use the the in room microwave & frige. BYOB to the beach @ night.

NOT IMPRESSSED!

The hotel spent a lot of money on lobby and landscaping BUT they NEED to put money into the rooms! The refridgerator never did work properly, even after maintenance came to repair. Had a similar problem with the toilet. Partial ocean view was NOT worth the additional money! The beach is owned by the state and it cost to sit in the chairs, no matter the length of time. To sit in the lounge chairs near the pool but with an ocean view ALSO came with a nice fee! The Las Olas beach area is MUCH nicer!

Hotel needs renovations ASAP!!!!!

Hotel needs renovations ASAP...It looks very nice in the pictures, but it is a different story when you go there... One of our beds are broken and was not changed...Alos the services like renting cabanas, longe chairs at the beach are ridiculous! They should not charge for this... Will not recomend it at all. Staff is very nice, but overall not a good stay.

My family and I stayed at the Ocean Sky Hotel and was very impressed with how nice and helpful that the entire staff was. The hotel is beautiful even though we spent most of our time outside at the pool or the beach. The tikki bar is great too.

I have my next trip soon and will go back to the same place , without a doubt

Great amenities for the price!

We searched for a hotel close enough to the convention center for my husbands business trip and also that was located directly on the water. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical myslef after reading some of the reviews. Upon arrival the hotel looked gorgeous to me! Once up to my room I was a bit dissapointed, I had hoped for a nicer looking room, but that really didn’t matter, after a day at the pool and beach and all the amenities, I didn’t mind one bit, it was comfortable, clean and served the purpose. The TV reception was horrible, but I didn’t complain, we were barely in the room. The housekeeping staff were wonderful, we had no complaints. I thought the Valet guys went above and beyond their duties! They were great, and I say it was well worth paying $ 9.00 a day!! The front desk staff was super to! Many thanks to all the staff at the Ocean Sky, we had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to go back! The pool, hot tub, sun deck, tiki bar and beach, all just right there and wonderful! CAn’t beat that!!

Go up to Commercial street "Lauderdale by the Sea" I had breakfast at one place, something grill? Can’t remember, but boy, that was the best omlet I have ever had. We had a fantastic meal at Arubas! Best calamari we’ve had so far! Not to mention a great view!! Enjoy your trip!!

Don’t belive everything you hear!

We wen’t to Ft. Lauderdale to visit family and ended up staying at this hotel. 1st let me say the hotel was very nice and we were completely satisfied with our stay. The beach was nice, the hotel was the only one that had anything going on, there were wave runner rentals and a pool and tiki bar, a huge sun deck and shade if you don’t want to be in the sun. The valet people were really nice, I still think that its crap that its pretty much your only option to valet your car for a whopping $9 a day. The securety deposit is $25 a day not $125 and there is a $1 charge for the safe weather you use it or not but whatever. I read the other reviews and some of the thing people were saying was the hotel was in desperate need of repair and it was super outdated. I really didn’t think so, a hotel is a hotel and for what we paid I think it was great, if you want an expensive looking room go pay $300 a night for it. The only down fall I would have to say is room service was outrageous, we ordered 3 appitizers and our bill before tip was $57! But overall I think our stay there was great and we would most deffinately stay there again.

There is a restuarant on Commercial maybe a mile or two away from the hotel called "Flannigan’s", they had great service and great food, would totally reccomend this place!!

This hotel was great! the staff was nice and the location of the hotel was great.

Not bad for the price

We stayed there from 8/12 to 8/13/09. The room was good for the price, good location, beach front. It costs $9 for parking per/day (self/valet). The check in staff is little bit too serious, could be a little more cheerful. The hotel concierges are very nice and helpful. There was no free internet service in the lobby. We would stay there again.

Shopping: Sawgrass Mills Outlet is about 11 miles from the hotel. There are many stores to shop. Beaches: drive south on A1A - you’ll see some nice beaches.

Being on the Beach was great; Hotel had alot to be desired.

My two teenage daughters and I were looking for an affortable place to stay. I will not say it is the worst; but definantly not the best by any rate. You will be paying a daily charge for parking and the room safe even if you don’t use the safe. Chairs and umbrellas on beach are also an additional charge. Room did have a smell maybe mildew, not sure. Room did not look like internet pictures so don’t be fool. Room had a small refrig., coffee maker and microwave and on last night found a roach in the refrig. Valet staff was courteous , small gift shop were nice ,and one Concierge was helpful; most the other staff at the hotel made you feel like you were bothering them. I would look for another hotel on the beach if I were you.

Take advantage of the small fridge and microwave on the room. There is a supermarket across the street. Didn’t try the restaurant (there is plenty around), but the pool bar is expensive.

Great place

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It was a good location to walk to bars/ restaurants and right on the beach.

Great deal for the price

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights.It is right on the beach-not accross the street like most others are.It is also a short walk to everything from mcDonalds to italian reseraunts.A grocery store in walking distance also Rental car really not needed unless you are sightseeing.Parking is 13 dollars-1/3 the cost of everywhere else. I would reccomend if you are looking for a great rate 3 star hotel.If you are meticulous about your surroundings go and spend 3 times more a night and not get 3 times the improvement.

Terrible Conditions

I would never recommend this hotel to any one. I checked in and the room conditions were terrible. The room had a Disgusting Order and was Filthy. I don’t know when the last time the linens were cleaned. After Complaining I was issued another room and it was in the same condition. I checked out 15 minutes upon my arrival and had to find another Hotel that evening as I was traveling with children & they needed a clean, safe Environment. Finally I checked into another hotel at 2:30 am. that was clean and friendly. That Hotel was Fantastic

Will not come back!

Pictures looks good, but the rooms are very old! gross! And you have to pay to use the beach chairs and umbrella! OMG! However they did have a microwave which we used 2-3 times to heat up food the next morning. It’s not a 3 star hotel resort. Its more like a 1.5 to 2 stars!

Will definately go back!

For the price let me say this hotel was wonderful! After reading some feedback before going i was alittle nervous on what to expect however my experience there was awesome.The room was very clean,some recommendations are to put fabric softener in the towels, as there had been two occassions I saw hair on the towels that were supposely cleaned/folded.Other than that the location was awesome- right on the beach, pool was great, jacuzzi was great and the staff were very friendly. The valet was wonderful quick and professional!A short walk to dunkin dounuts was very helpful in the mornings.I urged them that i needed a room with no smoking and i did not want to be next to a smokers room seemed like floor five smelled like cigarette smoke.I took advise from another traveler and used the do not disturb sign most of the week when i left the room so the cleaning personnel would come when we needed.I would definately recommend to families as this hotel is kid friendly!

Awesome Honeymoon in a Relaxing Hotel

This hotel had everything we needed to have a stress-free honeymoon. We lacked for nothing and the view was spectacular. We will return again!
